For divine veil and shake it off, I like finding spots in between two instances of raidwide damage to use it. That way you help heal up the first raidwide and shield the next one. Also for raidwides that have a bleed effect, I like using them after they go off to help soak up as much of the bleed as possible, which is usually where most of the damage is. Dark Missionary and Heart of Light always want to be used prior to those casts going off, as the percentage mitigation also reduces the bleed damage.

I appreciate the means by which you described tanks in raids. I agree that "main" tank and "off" tank are quite dated. Even in normal mode, raid bosses target both tanks with tank busters 90% of the time in newer content.

Question, how do you get your camera to look so zoomed out? I feel like mine is much more zoomed in and my field of vision is a lot lower

Excellent question! This is due to the way DRKs do their opener, specifically in regards to Living Shadow. You see, DRKs require 3 GCDs of blood weapon + 20 from soul eater to get the 50 gauge required to summon Living Shadow. Since it already has such a long summoning animation, opening with a ranged attack on DRK pushing this summon back further which will push it even further out of the raid buffs from your party which ends up being an aDPS loss for the DRK as well as a rDPS loss for their party members.

Shields are not mitigation, they do not decrease the damage taken just give a buffer to your HP. Dark Knight for example, Obulation is a mitigation, abyssal drain is a heal and the blackest night is a shield. A shield and a mitigation stack, so tbn gives you a 25% hp shield and obulation gives 10% damage mit, they stack, but obulation and shadow wall do not, it'll reduce the damage from wall then obulation will reduce from that damage.

Shields literally reduce the damage you take by eating a portion of the damage first. It’s mitigation in its purest form. You’re free to disagree about the semantics but then you end up disagreeing with the majority of guide makers and theorycrafters.

I don't think anyone thinks that the word "mitigation" strictly means "defense buff." Shields directly reduce the damage by literally subtracting a static number from incoming damage, rather than increasing your defense.

@@Chump_Fighter Yeah, only thing that bothers me is when people refer to things like WAR self healing as "mitigation" instead of sustain.
