actually there was damage scaling in umvc3

the main problems were Infinites or glitches (like Lightning loops causing hit stun AND a Knockdown, instead of letting the opponent pop out of the combo), and the dumb choice they made for the projectiles durability... Everything else was amazing !

the game is honestly fine. all the seemingly broken shit is honestly balanced pretty well between them. we've seen a huge amount of team variety and styles dominate the game over its life cycle, all without any patches. Honestly, the only thing I would change would be to make the matches best of 5 instead of best of 3. the fact that matches can be decided through so few decisions on the loser's end is part of the hype honestly, but that makes best of 3 way too volatile. alot of other fighting games have best of 3 rounds to get to a point, and tournaments for those games do best of 3 points. so there's a potential for 9 rounds of gameplay to happen. umvc3 rounds can often run the full timer down depending on the style of the teams, so 9 potential rounds could be too much. but best of 3 is just way too few. best of 5 really would be the best for a tournament format, and since that gives players more chances to play when they lose a round to the cheap stuff, it would go a long way to making the game feel more fair without actually having to change the game at all.

DorjeDriftwood just to be clear you are obviously only talking about capcom's modern fighting games because outside of those capcom has a lot of beloved modern games in general like monster hunter world, resident evil 7 and devil may cry 5 in the future though sfv is still doing well in the fgc.

Kenan Willis if they brought everyone back in the entire series like smash bros it would be over 100 characters and no modern fighting game will ever have that many characters.
