If the salary cap is a fixed percentage of the club's revenue then it doesn't fix anything since the wealthier clubs will still have more money to sign better players, unlike the US where all the teams have the same salary cap since it's determined on the overall league revenue. If anything, this just takes money away from the players and into the club owners' wallets.

That salary cap thing is actually not that bad, restricting a team to Allot less than 200 or maybe 250-300k per week salary to a player or having a limit of spending less than 100-150 mil in a single transfer window doesn't matter how lengthy of a contract you provide can actually make the league a lot more interesting It's obvious that owners have found a loop hole in the FFP rules and they are basically non existent at this point seeing that Juventus' points were returned and Man city's allegations are also not progressing, so preventing corruption from this point onwards doesn't sound bad

@@bersinjo pretty sure you'll be able to live sufficiently if you earn 200k a week for a decade As far as the initiative to improve is concerned, in a hypothetical situation, my job in general can offer maximum up to 300k a week and that is offered only to the best of the best, then I'll obviously try and reach that point and after that, am content cause I know I have reached the highest point and there is no further I can go But then again, suppose am at the absolute top in my job for 10-15 years, inflation is gonna increase the living costs etc and then my job has to offer more Like I said, if they can adjust this salary cap with the constant change in economy, then it is very much a fair idea, but in reality, world doesn't work that way so it can only be imagined in a hypothetical situation

I’m American and I personally like salary caps in our leagues such as the NBA and NFL. It helps to spread out talent more evenly and also helps smaller teams keep their star players. One thing that I personally dislike about football is that smaller clubs don’t really have anyway to stop bigger sides from buying their young talent bc they don’t have the same funds, so it’s like there’s a cap on the level of talent they can develop before they’re gutted by bigger clubs. That being said I would completely understand if most football fans don’t want to adopt. Also as much as I would love to see it, holding the UCL final in America doesn’t make any sense imo

If the salary caps is a % of winnings it’ll only make it harder for smaller teams to be successful, the larger teams have enormous revenue so will their salary allowance will be able to dwarf smaller teams. It also means the league with the biggest incomes will still be able to spend more. If they truly want balance then they’ll introduce a single Europe wide cap that all teams have to abide by and make it lower than the average Champion league clubs salary so the bigger teams actually have to adjust their spending.

We're seeing most clubs outside of the premier league (and even in it in some cases) experiencing extreme levels of financial instability in order to stay competitive. We're also seeing teams cooking the books, cheating financially in order to stay competitive. My suggestions would allow for talent to be spread somewhat evenly across the board. It would make the game better for everyone, preserve the integrity of continental competition and stave off the creation of the Super League. Side note: if a team wanted Mbappe they would have to move players out in order to create financial room for Mbappe. Further cementing my point regarding a spread of talent.

No never. Because football is club oriented sport. So, player mostly play in one football league. In a sport like cricket where international career and club career is 50/50, and players are able to play in multiple leagues, salary capping works as resources (in this case players) are shared and distributed. As an American, I think the salary cap is a great idea. Here in America every team has their good and bad times and with a salary cap we never see super teams that win 10 straight titles. Sure some teams dominate for awhile but in all fairness we also have the draft so if you suck for awhile and get lots of good picks you are set. As an Everton fan I think it would be great because I feel I could go my whole life without seeing us ever win the premier league with how the money runs in football. I think the salary cap would need to be done differently then my revenue because then the top teams would stay the top teams, Bayern would still dominate the Bundesliga, Barca and Real Madrid would dominate LaLiga and so on and so forth. I think if they had a more even salary cap it would make football so much better. Teams like Everton could get better players because now teams like Arsenal, Man City, Man United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Newcastle can’t just buy up every good player in England. I also think a team like Everton could keep the good players in the Academy because they know they won’t get a massive bag at many clubs because of the limit they have to spend

The idea of spendings limit is very much necessary, the club dominance is mainly because of the money being infused in the club. Currently there's almost no chance for clubs other than a few top clubs in most of the leagues in Europe. I think the UEFA must implement this to give more clubs a chance for the glory.

As a percentage of revenue it s actually the death of competition. Example psg can pull 600 mil revenue, ajax 150 mil. If percentage is the same it effectively locks Ajax out from competing with psg ever again. Make it a flat cap for everyone, if psg then can pull more money it can sign the next wonder kind from Ajax but with definitively more money than now. Revenues rebalanced and the game is leveled again

Salary caps based on sporting revenue is absolutely a better structure than on all of a Club’s revenue. As of now, State-owned clubs can manipulate their way out of any limits by charging “the UAE’s or Qatar’s office of tourism $3Billions for in-stadium billboards” which is clearly not market and simply a way to game yourself out of the cap using the resources of a sovereign state and distorting the competition

Salary cap shouldn't be relative to income (that's similar to the system we currently have with FFP) because it still keeps all the rich clubs at the top. It should be a set limit that clubs can hit if they want to, but don't have to. The figure should be between 250m-300m I think, so that the rich clubs can still pay about what they're doing now but so that they can't pull a PSG (my club) in 2021 where our wage bill was 430m at one point, that is disgusting and just simply wrong

Realistically, the salary cap exists already as where teams are allowed to spend however much they make from player sales, sponsors, tickets, merch, etc. Obviously there are teams that breach this (Man City) but most teams stick to this. A hard salary cap, like the NHL, would be pretty cool, it would curb spending and it would allow for teams to have a more equal chance, but it would also be a way for owners to save tons of money.

Ffp Is about the % a team can use in their salaries, that is already there. It'd be better to regulate the market. Number of games in first division gives you something, goals, stats, minutes, etc. giving you a real valuation on the players and avoiding this inflation just because big teams want money for every player even if they haven't played in their 1st team, but are sold for 10 or 15M as it has happened in italy

I think it's not a good idea because team executives would just profit outrageously from that. Imagine that a team x has a given cap. But since they were able to get the best players to come play for this club x, they are the most profitable club, causing their revenue and profit to grow. At that point, several questions arise: the first one is whether the players should get paid more with the bigger budget next year. The current teams that are already at the top of the food chain are already able to pay the highest salaries, so they will continue to win. I don't see how a salary cap helps there. In my opinion, more scrutiny on how financial fair play is enforced is better. Outside investment from oil countries should be heavily regulated

I beg to differ, a salary cap would still favor the biggest teams. Clubs like Real Madrid, Man United or Bayern Munich are massive brands and their generated income is miles above anyone else's. So a budget based on actual revenue and salary cap would hurt the smaller clubs and basically doom all of central and eastern Europe's clubs to languish in the conference and sometimes go and become the punching bags of the big ones. Basically the margins between the top leagues and the rest would grow even wider.
