The plaintiff and defendant met in high school, but she didn’t want to date him then because he sold drugs. Now, they’re engaged, but she refuses to marry him until he takes a lie detector test to prove he doesn’t cheat on her. She’s suing for an unpaid loan. The defendant admits he sold drugs in high school and he’s willing to take the lie detector test.

Let me start off by saying you had to take this man to court for a 600$ Loan he owes you. That’s a deal breaker right there. If I gotta take you to court over money you owe me, we not getting married. They look good together. However, there are two major issues here. One, a partner that you have to bring to court to receive money that they are aware that they owe you. This is a red flag. He didn't care about giving her the $600 back. He never made a payment, even when she told him it could be $50 at a time. The second issue is the absence of trust in the relationship. Searching through each other's phones for inappropriate text messages. Allegations of cheating that reach the point of needing a lie detector test for confirmation. Marriage should be out of the question. Counseling/therapy is a better choice for them at this time.

I have this episode on in the background at work and as soon as he said "I went to the lil jump start program" I knew he was from Baltimore. On a serious note, the Jump Start Program is a great program run by the Center for Urban Families. I was a part of their STRIVE workforce training program, which enhanced my skills in the workplace.

Strange as it may be this really was a decent case. Whether it was $600 or $6000 she wanted him to know she wasn’t playing around about her money. As far as the lie detector test this is a better outcome than the woman assuming the man did her dirty and cheated and worse things happening. I’m glad the ending turned out the way it did.
