Fiat 500 Abarth Used Review featuring a 2013 model year with 60k miles on it. The 500 Abarth is a unique and tiny hatchback that is 10 inches shorter than a Mazda Miata. This turbo-powered Fiat 500 will forever leave a smile. See my Jaguar F-Type Review: • 2017 Jaguar F-Type S R...
Fiat is a brand that won't last long in the States. The 500 Abarth is the companies most exciting offering that I believe will be sought after in the used market due to the affordable prices. Would you choose a used Fiat 500 Abarth over competitor vehicles like the Ford Fiesta ST, VW Golf GTI, or even the Hyundai Veloster? Leave your thoughts below in the comment section.

The abarth actually holds up excellently when it comes to reliability. Very few issues with this matter actually. There so many 165k mile abarths running around with only regular maintenance needed. Sure a Toyota can definitely run 250 or more but who wants to drive the same car for that long? Yuck lol. I’ve had mine for 2.5 yrs, my daily too, only at 45k and not a single issue.

I had one for 5 years with no issues in fact only keeping rocker panel on after shop improperly lifted it. Cheap to mod under $1500 to bump hp to 212, lower it & sway bars plus wing. It has so much personality it wormed it’s way to being one of my favorites. The most fun commuter for the $. Liked it more than Guilia Ti. Driving position adds to experience from where you sit you won’t think you can make corner at higher speed but it does. Giggling commences especially with exhaust.

I have a 2011 red one with white decals, 17 inch wheels. I used to have an uno turbo, I have to be honest the uno was just this less soooo much weight. I'm sure these are safer. I'm sure they tried to build these to make them look like an original 500, I did own one... every car is getting so big there is no super mini any more. Still I really like these, thanks for the review, I look forward to more content from you guys and gals.

I live in MO. Everybody has a huge truck that gets 8ft per tank of gas. Ive never lost to a truck and so many mess with this thing it just gets hilarious. I also own a 05 yamaha r1 with more hp than my abarth but man the fiat is almost as much fun i swear lol. 120k miles. Been extremely reliable for me atleast. Oil changed between 3 to 4k miles never go over that.. I f*ckin ❤ this thing and will be running it to the ground lol cheers

I have the same car in black with the 17" wheels. It's more fun to drive than my 2012 BMW 335is and way more reliable too. 14 months of ownership and not one single issue. I couldn't say that for the BMW, I know the entire service department by name. 2.5 years with the BMW and if if hadn't purchased an extended warranty I'd be out tens of thousands of dollars.

I own a 2013 Abart 500 (hard 'T' no 'th' sound) I'm going to reiterate what tons of comments have said... WHAT DO YOU MEAN *NOT* RELIABLE!!! Jesus! The thing is nearly bullet proof STOP making shit up about these excellent and fun cars! The only thing that mine gives me grief about is warning me when my tire gets to 29 psi with the tire pressure monitoring system. The car is a blast to drive, handles great, quicker 0-60 than my old Magnum PI 308GTS QV and better gas mileage if I turn the 'sport' button off for a trip. Indy500 Firestones are sticky, brakes are great, suspension is top notch for a commuter and that exhaust has been described as 'exhaust porn' it sounds epic bone stock! I chose an Abart500 because it isn't a Fiesta or a GTI... I wanted something with style and that means Italian 🏁 plus it looks nice parked next to my Maseratis!

These cars, Fiat 500s, certainly do have some known issues. I own two currently, a 2012 Lounge model, and a 2013 Abarth Cabrio, and owned a 2013 Pop at one time too, which I traded for the 2012. The fit and finish is definitely chintzy; those armrests are an actual joke within the community because of how often they break, as well as the lower steering cowl you noted in your review. Additionally, all 500s, every model, across each model year, have issues with both exterior door handles breaking and power window regulators failing; since most suffer from exceptionally rattly doors as well you may draw your own conclusions regarding how often folks slam car doors. Other than that, most of the oft-mentioned reliability issues, along with the obligatory witty fellow using the "fix it again Tony" on here are thoroughly unfounded. And I'm not only speaking from personal experience but a vast network of other owners. The one major mechanical issue the Abarth has is with the CV axle boots disintegrating and wearing the axle out prematurely, so that's something you have to keep tabs on. Oil changes are a huge deal in all 500s, and even more necessary in the Abarth and other turbo-charged models because, well, they're turbos. I also have to disagree with your "everybody will love you driving up in this car" statement, particularly since you're in NC (like myself) where your average truck owner will definitely take issue with anyone in a sub-compact, even more so when you've just blown his doors off. Overall though your review was pretty fair to the platform, there are a handful of very worthwhile, reasonably priced mods that you can do to the Abarth, however, which make it even more fun to own and drive. In closing, head up to TOTD, April 30th, and see if one of my fellow Abarth owners wouldn't mind slinging you around the Dragon's 311 curves and you might gain a lot more appreciation for our little Topolinos.
