Fiat Ducato double din pioneer head unit upgrade in motorhome

Fiat ducato stereo upgrade to double din head unit, this will be the same or similar for the Peugeot boxer, Renault master and Iveco Dailey chassis. Fits the following vehicles:
Citroën Jumper as from 2011
Fiat Ducato as from 2011
Peugeot Boxer as from 2011
This video will show how to remove the original stereo and fit a double din head unit. We fit a pioneer AVH-Z3200DABAN 2 din head unit it came with a DAB aerial included. We also had to purchase a surround to fill the gap. Both items are listed below with a link.
The double din upgrade was fairly straightforward and this video will show the steps to remove the original stereo and fit the pioneer AVH-Z3200DABAN and also how to fit the DAB aerial.

It may just need a converter? If you pull the old one out and then compare with the new, if it does need a converter just a Google search and you should find one suitable 👍

Hello there, great video, do the plastic things definitely need to be cut off? I’ve just bought a cheap double din touch screen the ones that come from China lol hoping it fits

I honestly can't remember sorry, it will be in the manual though the wiring harness. I know each head unit will be different but this one had a fair few inputs and outputs. We will be doing a VW Transporter head unit upgrade in the new year which we will put a similar head unit in and add cameras into it so will have a good look at the wiring then.

I dont think we had steerling controls on this one. So I'm not 100% if it will just work sorry. Worth a try as the wiring should be in the same loom so in theory I think they should work without any other wiring?

Such a shame you didnt explain the wiring harness which to most of us is the main area of uncertainty as numerous adapters maybe required. Other than that a good video.

Should just be whatever the stereo is back to original fiat which is iso connectors.

Hi again. I’ve been r very helpful directions in my 2008 Peugeot Boxer Rambler. However one problem I appear to have is I can’t find the pioneer corresponding to the series number on the box in your vid. Any chance of letting me know which one is the right one to order please? Hi Jim, I think its discontinued now, but most double din heat units will fit. We are about to fit a ATOTO head unit soon and test this and compare if you are able to wait a few weeks.

Really good video but how do you remove the head unit should you need to?? I cannot find any info on you tube how to remove a pioner head unit like this and need to check my aeriel connection.😢

On most there is a gap down the sides in the middle, small screw drivers or removal tools push down the side and the head unit will be able to be pulled forward. Have a search for pioneer double din removal tool for what they look like.

@thecaravanplace Thank you, I have the removal tools but there is no gap for these. I have since found out there are 4 screws holding the cage in and the cage comes out with the head unit on my set up (Knaus Sun Ti 650). Thanks for the reply 👍👍

Would this be the same on my 2002 ducato motorhome? I’m not overly concerned about the make and model, I was told that these should have a minimum of 2gb memory?! There’s already an aftermarket head unit in the van (single din but it opens out to a touchscreen pad - it’s ripspeed) but it’s pretty crap and has no navigation. I’d like to have a reverse camera fitted at the same time. I’m going to head to head off on a big trip around Europe in February so want something fairly decent so the navigation system would be great … oh and Apple connectivity + dab. Can you recommend any other stereos that would have all these features? How much could I expect to pay an auto electrician to fit both roughly? Thank you in advance.

Thanks for your comments Martin, I would possibly have a look in halfords and they should be able to show you some options. We have a place valled Bass Junkies in the midlands, so having a look for someone like this and they can give you the best options and also fit. I'm not sure on cost sorry.

Either single din, or with a bit of modifications as shown a double din will fit.

Not sure on the older but if it has room for the double din then it should, would be a case of removing the old radio and bottom tray and measure it.

Hi it should just be a plug and play, some will need an adapter which is just a quick Google search of your model. Hope this helps?

If its the ones coming from the vehicle then I think its 1 lot for power and then the other is speakers etc.

When it comes to specific fiddly bits, like connecting up the radio or fitting the new components, the IMPORTANT bits, the video fast forwards through.. why skip these bits and leave in long segments of removing or refitting trim etc? Very annoying. Still. Good video but editing could be better, its clearly aimed at the novice or first timer so llease include all the key details. Thx

There's quite a few double din headunits now that only occupy a single din space in your dash, I think Sony probably makes some of the best ones. I'd think that would alleviate the need to cut anything out
