Gilas could have won at least 2-3 games or even advanced to the next round. Still a strong team. A better system would bring the Philippines to a higher level.

And MVP and the Gilas Pilipinas brass really need to develop more coaches for FIBA action. No more going to the wells with the likes of Chot Reyes, Yeng Guiao, Tim Cone, Tab Baldwin, and Norman Black time after time.

Strongest Gilas ever assembled. Could be much better if we won against Dominican and Angola. And beat Japan to qualify in Olympics. Those teams are beatable really.

Hopefully we can have 90% of this team for the OQT next year. Dwight Ramos impressed me in this WC. I was always curious if he can play in world level (he’s always good in asian level) and he did not disappoint.

The reason why we beat china in such a large margin and drop all the other games is because we start the 1st quarter playing team offense not just going iso with clarkson right off the bat. We have a talented players we need a coach who can maximize everyone in the team. If Tab coach this gilas team we could push through second round.

What are you talking about? Tab didn't give a winning game to gilas when he was the mentor. Remember the previous FIBA game w/ Italy when gilas went scoreless in almost the entire 1st quarter and heavily beaten at the end. At least w/ chot he was able to break the curse on gilas of being winless at FIBA for the last 10 years (since 2014) as well as finally beating powerhouse China after 10 years since (2013). Also gilas finally get a chance and qualified to participate in OQT (Olympic qualifying tournament) for next year's Paris Olympics. Also Gilas ranking upped to 24th position from the bottom winless 32th spot.

@@melchoralfelor you casual o what?? gilas won silver medal under coach tab way back 2015 with a scrappy roster could've won gold if not on the bad officiating. Not to mention the 2015 gold medal SEA games and 2015 jones cup. Tab was the right coach for the national team, players willing to play on his system until chot took over. No shot on chot but his system is not effective in this today's basketball meta

@@melchoralfelor in case you forgot to fact check and just spit non-sense to hate coach Tab, just for you to know the Gilas you mention that couldn't score against Italy happened in 2019, in which wasn't handled by Coach Tab, it was Coach Yeng who handled the National Team, both of them may be bald but they're 2 different people, next time, learn to fact check first before proudly saying something that doesn't even make sense

Our Gilas Pilipinas did their best. It just so happened that our national team was not able to move to the next round. I am not an expert, but I think what our national team is lacking is the ample time to prepare. Players are good, but they need to have chemistry. They need to be connected inside the court for them to have a good ball movement. Laban Pilipinas - Puso! 💙❤💛🤍

Players are not a problem to the Philippine team. All players are FIBA Worlds caliber, just needs a good coach and a good system. I see more mistakes from the coaching system instead of mistakes from the players.

I enjoy watching GILAS in highlights because they play with a distinctive Philippine style, reminiscent of the NBA, in contrast to the less exciting Euro basketball. However, it doesn't seem to work as effectively in the international games.

Araneta Coliseum is built during the 1960'S where the FIBA World Cup was held and during that World Cup the Philippines got Silver Medal or 3rd Place over-all in FIBA WORLD CUP... Yet until now this Sports Arena is still being used by FIBA for the World Cup 2023 basketball tournament... Awesome

JC is really fun to watch whereever league he go. Those people who says Clarkson did not give his best in their 3 losing games and did not show up in the same lelvel he did vs China are just plain stupd.. They blame his inconsistency and his TO but hows in the locals other than him played in high intensity in defense to offense? Before they blame it to JC, they should rewatch the game and see how they basically let him run the floor like they all just waiting what hes gonna do like hes a playing coach. The team were not prepared for plan-B, they all just have 1 mind set to let JC do his thing

Watching gilas vs dom rep really amazes me how so many missed calls the refs did for gilas while they were calling very thin fouls on the other side.. and they did it in our homecourt as well.. homecourt advantage is not a thing in the philippines for fiba

If we keep the same young core of this team (Edu, Sotto, Abando, and Ramos) plus the others who didn't make the Cut we could have a Stronger team no matter who's the coach is. I believe having a Same core of players can be successful. Look at Japan they have change their coach three times but their Core players are the same.

That type of argument is quite shaky. Some Asian teams already had tall players. As basketball continues to evolve, the basketball seems to be not just simply a game of height. When it comes to height, there are no huge differences if you look closely. That excuse you generate is only for the ones who always play ISO, lack ball movement, and lack in training.
