The minimum recommended intakeof fiber is about 30g a day. And that's not even that much! 30g can be covered by as little as 500kcal worth of food! To meet that goal, you would only need to spend about one third to a quarter of your calories eating fiber-rich foods! As you can see, it is not that difficult to eat more fiber!
The only significant sources of fiber are whole plant foods. There is no way around that! And why is fiber so important? Because it promotes a healthy gut microbiome, it balances hormones, protects against colon cancer, promotes satiety and weight loss, improves mood, improves immune function,... Make sure you get enough fiber to reap all its benefits!
Eating a mostly whole food plant based diet easily adds up to about 70g of fiber. Now that's a healthy fiber intake to strive for! Clearly, you can't eat 70g starting tomorrow! Take it easy! If you slowly improve your food choices, week by week, you too, will be able to benefit from the health promoting effects of fiber!
