This is a great idea for my media room since I can’t get into the attic. Great job.

If you spray paint then wouldn't you paint these fibers?

Why not use black acoustic panels or pinboard? Save on cutting sheet rock mudding, taping, sanding and painting.. less mess and much faster in my opinion.. thoughts?

Do we really need to fill with drywall mud and paint drill hole after getting fiber out ? does that drill part looks rough or similar like smooth drywall ? can you please add picture or video how does that ceiling looks like closely without turning on light ? Does it matter if we paint fiber and then cut at the end ? how much do we need to keep outside length from drill hole when we are painting ?.

Hello There, where do i find the drill machine for drilling wholes in the drywall for fiber optic cables? Thank you!

Hey there, a Dremel or any other cordless rotary tool will do the trick, though a small cordless drill will work as well if you're careful. I currently have a Milwaukee M12 Rotary Tool, Model 2460-21. You can buy them at any online retailer or home improvement store in the US, or a tool shop in other countries. If in doubt, go to a hardware store and as for a rotary tool. Hope that helps!

So it does not matter if the fibers get paint on them because at the end you cut the extra? I always thought they were suppose to be flush. Thank you for the video.

i assume they dont have an attic? i did mine and didnt have to do any of this. seems like a lot of extra work.. but i guess all houses dont have attics too though...

+Powertripp Productions Same thing I was just going to comment, then saw yours. IF by chance there was an attic above, this was really a dumb plan!! They seem serious and pretty thorough with most everything else though, so I'll assume there's no attic or maybe its one of those ranches with the really shallow pitched roof. I had to install a soffit vent for a bathroom exhaust fan in one maybe ten years ago and talk about claustrophobic, something I didn't know I had much trouble with until I did that one, wanted to get the HELL OUT OF THERE!!!

Were you able to lay your insulation on top of this? I'm going to be doing this to my room and I thankfully have a bare and open ceiling to do this to before laying any drywall. Just want to make sure that the fiber optics are okay under the insulation layer.
@BloominOnion1 Жыл бұрын
did you glue them up there or no?
@Tripp77 Жыл бұрын
@@BloominOnion1 nope. Just drilled pin holes then stuck the fiber through just enough. They really keep them selves in places. It's easier this way if you ever have to disassemble too.

This is overly complicated. I just drilled holes in the ceiling and popped the strands in
@madmadameminx4 жыл бұрын
That sounds much easier to work from above rather than build underneath.

Very nice indeed. But every video about drywall and mud, everyone is using way to much mud. Waste of time and mud, Apply just enough to cover the holes and corners, redo if necessary..
@frankiec55705 жыл бұрын
Instead of making a new false ceiling couldn’t you just install from the attic into the existing ceiling?
@cpt.hindsight5 жыл бұрын
If there was an attic above I didnt want to make so many holes up into the attic, because dust coming down, hot damp air getting into the attic. And depending on the climate there could be a vapor barrier. It could be done but you would be very careful to seal up all of the holes..
