A lot of air transfer (hot to cold) and/or "stack effect" takes place at the rim joist between the interior and exterior of the structure. That rim joist area is one of the most vulnerable areas to insulate and insulating with fiberglass batt insulation is not recommended and a less-than-ideal method. If you have fiberglass batts in your crawlspace, do yourself a favor and throw it in the trash where it belongs. Insulating with foamboard is the preferred / ideal method.
