I do like your suggestion of chain 2, then double crochet at the ends, also the last double crochet into the 3rd chain, makes the edges look cleaner. Your change from the original pattern does make it non-directional. You are henceforth dubbed ‘Magnificent Fiber Spider’.🤴

I really like this stitch :-) I wish I had used this on a wrap i'm working on I've named "The Never Ending Herringbone Half Double Crochet Wrap" I think yours has a lace-y drape look but would be very warm. :-)

Beautiful pattern..however i have a question would you please do the strawberry stitch? I love how you teach and have some trouble with a few of the tutorials i have seen. I also have some knitting needles for you if I may send them to you.
