This is such a fun movie, and being in an Art museum while every paint, statue or picture comes alive (and being able to jump in the paints/pictures) is a dream! I would LOVE to have a chat with all the self portraits about their work (and possibly tell Van Gogh he will make it, similar to that episode of Doctor Who).

I'm happy that in my lifetime, the story of General Custer went from "My God, what a tragedy" to "My God, what an idiot." A couple of other references that I think you missed: Octavius' "Stay alive! I will find you!" is from Last of the Mohicans starring Daniel Day Lewis (which is *amazing*). And the shot of the monkey holding up the two green flares is a satire of The Rock (1996), although in that film it was Nicolas Cage and not a monkey.

@fictionaldarling
@fictionaldarling 2 жыл бұрын
it wasn't his girlfriend, unfortunately. she was a dental assistant who spoke out years later & said she had no idea who he was & didn't consent to the kiss - she was just suddenly grabbed by a strong & strange man in the street. he could've kissed his gf who was there, but he was drunk & later said that the uniform she was wearing reminded him of the nurses overseas, so he grabbed her instead. that's why i said to free her, because the poor woman was just trying to live her life but instead someone snapped a photo of the moment & it became a symbol of the post-war celebration 😅 i wish it was his gf, though :/
