I am enjoying your two weeks off work :) That Helix looks fantastic and great idea on the branch line mod. I have to agree with you, and others, on the Hornby points. I have to replace the single Hornby curved point on mine as although fine to begin with nothing passes over it any more without derailing. I almost when green with envy watching your 60 back those wagons into the yard. I have not been able to do that for about a year. Looking forward to the next instalment. Best regards Steve

Looking really good mate. I really enjoy all your videos and took your advice on making bushes by rolling lichen in glue and then in flock etc which has made a big difference to my layout. Only trouble is I'm going to have to redo all my old bushes now!

the fiddle yard and helix is coming along nicely mate.having a fiddle yard now will make it so much easier to run your trains in the future.and it was also a good idea to split your branchline early and have done a good job of on the helix. and just wanted to say i dont think your video uploaded properly either mate.other than that its an ace job you have done,once again.

i agree peco tends to last alot longer than hornby price wise in australia (where i am) peco track is alot cheaper than hornby.. odd isnt it? enjoyed the update and your fiddle yard is coming well it goes to show a little calculation and patience makes all the difference :D also after you put the piece above the fiddle yard on its going to be a bit difficult to see down there, maybe install a bit of lighting or something before the top board goes on? just a suggestion :D looking forward to p2

Just be glad you don't have to weather all those sidings. As for the branchline and main line connecting are you going to just put a single pair of points again or are you going to try and connect all the lines though points like many of the mainlines?

Hi there, great videos by the way. I wondered if you could tell me (or better still, do a 'how to' video on it) how you set up the wiring for the point motors in the fiddle yard. I am building a layout with a similar set up to you and I am doing my head in trying to think of how to wire up all the motors in the most efficient way!!
@EverardJunction
@EverardJunction 8 жыл бұрын
+Andy Brierley The points in my fiddle yard are not motorised. Mostly because of cost and lack of room for wiring. I operate the points manually and get on fine. Best thing to do would be to wire the points in pairs and perhaps use leds to show their position. It's not something I'm planning on doing at present.

Hi, thouroughly enjoyed the last two videos. Can I ask about the fiddle yard - it seems all of what you've shown so far has involved the Peco electrofrog points, but what it looks like from the clip here is a curved point with a plastic frog like Hornby? I'm just wondering about why these type are going to be included in your layout, or is purely for trying to simplify the yard where all wheel pick up Bo-Bo or Co-Co locos will pass here so the chance of a stall on these points is almost zero?
@EverardJunction
@EverardJunction 12 жыл бұрын
@JPMiller14 Due to space constraints I couldn't use the streamline pints and had to opt for the set track type. These are only available in the insulfrog variety.

@DELTICclass55 I have laid all the flexi track allready and don't have any spare I'm afraid. To keep it straight I keep a ruler butted up to the edge of the sleepers, this forces the track to be straight. For corners I mark out where the corner will go with a pencil line, then follow the line with the track.
@tich4472

@EverardJunction right i see so would would steam locos go round the streamlined points? As thats the only problem with my old layout 'Fennerfield' locos like tornado will not go into run arounds or sidings because of the points. This is the reason for building a new layout purely for DCC working and these points may fit the bill for the job. Thanks for your help mate! Much appreciated Rob

These videos are awesome, very inspiring and very professional, keep up the great work. I notice you use Peco code 100 track. As someone considering to pluck the courage to start an adventure in model railways would you recommend sticking to code 100 or to try finescale code 75 track, it seems PECO do an extensive range of points in finescale code 75?

@tich4472 normal points are very tight and don't look very realistic. Streamline points are much smoother and send the train round a much more gentle curve. Normal points are very useful for a tight space, but not much more than that.

Why did you use a curved insulfrog setrack point in the fiddle yard?You sad that you use only electrofrog points.
@EverardJunction

marian Melinte I made an exception there because I needed a tight curved point to maximise storage space. Peco don't make an electrofrog version of that point so I had to use insulfrog..
