I definitely want to do this. I hope I can make it work throughout the house. Do you think it would work if I have a dryloop?

Is the wireless home phone compatible with home security services like alarmforce or adt? thanks
@TechandDesign10 жыл бұрын
It should be, after all if you install it like I did, it's going to be the same thing as a normal home phone . However you should make sure by calling fido customer service
@TechandDesign10 жыл бұрын
well, the signal is exactly like a cellphone signal.

Does all the features (such as Call Display, etc.) show up on all the phones throughout the house using this method?

Hi, I'm about to buy this and hook it up like you said. For my home alarm, how will this work. By cutting the Bell wires, the alarm system will not communicate with the alarm central. However the Fido Home Phone will feed the alarm system, correct? So if the alarm is activated because a zone was activated, the alarm system will dial the central alarm company. Since there is no Bell line, the Fido Home Phone line as taken over and it will contact the Alarm Central office, correct?

For ppl that were asking if you have to get a dry loop for the internet,the answer is sadly a yes.Cause Your cutting that landline to the wall,so your internet would be effected. Fido home phone other then the Dry loop con(which is the only con it has,aside from it's pros) is excellent

Hi Thanks for the video. I'm with Fido for my cell and I've been looking at switch my home phone as well. It there any extra changes that they apply or is it just the $10 a month? What happens when your power goes out? Is it like a cell phone or cordless and will only work as long as the charge on the phone?
@TechandDesign10 жыл бұрын
Fido home phone is just the modem, you hook that up to your own Phone. if the power goes out it doesn't matter since the modem has a battery so you can use it without electricity. its just $10 and you have to buy the modem (one time fee). ohyeah $10 plus tax. If you look at the video you can see how the set up is. You need to connect the modem to your phone and electricity. watch the video

acguevara do you know for sure if the power goes out the phone will still work
@TechandDesign10 жыл бұрын
Yes, I'm sure. Becuase like I said , the modem has a battery and as long as your phone doesn't need electricity to work than you can still use it. The modem has a battery and it will work without electricity.

Hi acguevara, great video thanks. Question, you may have answered it but I ain't a techi so I might have missed it! I have phone line and DSL wireless internet connection with Bell. If i switch over to FIDO home phone (I'm a Fido customer already so the $10/month fee + taxes is much better than Bell's), will this interrupt my internet connection? You said your internet connection was not interrupted. Are you with Bell for internet? Using a DSL connection?
@Sabmiva10 жыл бұрын
Ooops my phone line and internet connection is with Bell.
@aarhead0110 жыл бұрын
Sandra Avendano what you could do is have bell set you up with ether a cable internet connection which doesnt require a phone line or have them give you a dry dsl loop which gives you access to internet but no landline and you have the phone line go directly to the modem you would have to have a technician come out and have them do that

Thanks for this. Would you say it's still valid in 2020? I am considering this, however I am not sure about the section you showed for the basement entry, I don't see the green device in my house....

Home phones in 2020 is as useless as still paying for cable tv. Just don’t do it. If you got a cellphone , you are all good. At the end of the day - this is just like a cellphone - it even uses a SIM card just like a cell phone. Ps: with so many streaming services free and paid - you don’t need to waste money on cable tv

@@TechandDesign I have had a landline for over 40 years. I want to preserve my landline's phone number. I don't want to get a new cell phone for that, the plans are too expensive, not any cheaper than my current Bell plan. Fido's Home Phone is about $20/month which is a lot better than $60+ for a cell phone. We each already have cell phones. BTW we still have cable TV, actually satellite. My husband's got to have the Bloomberg channel which no other provider has. I don't even watch TV, but he's glued to it.
@TechandDesign4 жыл бұрын
Actually Bloomberg is available for Streaming and it’s about $10/month for streaming unless you want to watch it for free which you can , but it’s limited. You can sign up here, at their website: www.bloomberg.com/live/us As for the home phone, I’m not saying to buy a another cellphone plan, I’m saying since you already have a cellphone , there really is no need for another phone if you really think about it. I don’t know if you got koodo where you are , but they also have home phone that is cheaper - if you really want to keep that - which I still don’t recommend since you already have a cellphone
@TechandDesign4 жыл бұрын
Ps: since you said “we” I assume that means you and your partner have cellphones. Which means you have a total of 3 phones in your house. Just think about - if you really need 3 phones in your house. It’s like having 3 home phones. Or at times you have at least 2 home phones. Do you really need 2 home phones ? A cell phone is just like a home phone after all
@ChristinaSoochan4 жыл бұрын
@@TechandDesign I didn't know that Bloomberg was available that way and had never discovered that. I will let my husband know. Thanks. Maybe we can shave off some money.

Fido is now charging $15 for Fido Cell customers ($30 if cell is with someone else), but I think existing Fido customers still get the $10 deal...do they??
@TechandDesign9 жыл бұрын
Handy Andy it all depends when you made the contract. I got it when it was $10 but yes now its $15 , so if you sign up now, it will be $15. For everyone else who signed up before, we still pay just $10
@handyandy64379 жыл бұрын
Thanks-and how long will the phone still work for if power goes out? 2 hours maybe? That is why I am a slave to bell Canada-phone works no matter what in a phone jack when power goes out. -Heck I wish I could plug a toaster or a kettle into a phone jack! lol It always works forever when the power goes out!!!
@TechandDesign9 жыл бұрын
works for about 2 hours however it all depends how much you use it . If you don't have power usually than I wouldn't get this,

you can only connect two phone's or phone and ansoring machine if you had landline before and all your jaks are on same line you can't hock one line to the wall Jack it will keep phone's from ringing

acguevara i guess we don't have the same unit mine to ZTE vop at&t wireless home phone I've tried to hock up 4 you see all my phone jaks are on the same line so i plunged one phone line into my jak on the wall and the other end to my ZTE unit with 4 phone won't ring when get a call go's to voce mail i unhocked one phone now when i get a call my three phone's ring and i can call out to ZTE told me your only sopost to hock up one phone in the first jak on the unit and a ansoring machine to the other they sead to meany device will overwhelm the phone unit it can't handle more phone's then that maybe one of these cordless phone unit that have five or so handsets may work because the unit reads it as one

Stay away from Fido Internet unless you want to spend days waiting for a customer service representative finding a solution that’s not there. Worst company ever
