I built a linked dipole with segments for each band from 6 meter to 40 meter. I tuned the elements for the middle of the phone portion on most bands and then created little pigtails that I could add to the active elements to drop the resonance to the digital portion of the band. It turned out that I only needed to make, I think it was 3 pairs of pigtails. Many of the bands needed pretty much the same length pigtail to drop to the lower end of the band. These pigtails just freely hang from the connection. YMMV 73 W5ZYM

Great load out video. I’m making a field day list myself that keeps getting longer (no thanks to you)! I absolutely know we’re way over packing but I’m so looking forward to this years FD. I don’t want to be the guy that left something behind.

I always enjoy seeing how others pack for Field Day, and I'm particularly interested in how the pros do it. :-) I think I'll get a mini digital multimeter like the one I carry in my truck so I can have one in my comms go bag. As inexpensive as they are, I should probably get a second mini-VNA and dedicate it to the go bag as well, and it could be a backup for one in my shack. Two is one and one is none. My 2020 Summer Field Day goal is hammock solo camping on a tall overlook in the scenic Red River Gorge in Kentucky. I'll probably be on JS8 most of the time, but I'll take my Yaesu FT-70DR and a portable J pole to work some local repeaters. Maybe we can have a JS8 QSO. I need to have a shakedown run in the local park sometime in the next week.

Nice work....lots of thought went in to it......BUT way more than my little brain can wrap around. I'm still trying to get a simple portable setup...around a Lowes tool bag....certainly not as neat as yours. Keep up the good work-videos.

My setup has had many revisions over the years and I am certain yours will as well. This was my setup just 2 years ago kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jp54aqyCz9OWeoE.html I got tired of moving the thing around. It was grossly overweight so I have spent the last two years putting the thing on a diet :-)

Nice load out, Jason. I’ll like the Genasun charge controller / Dakota battery combo. Which inline buck converter are you using? I don’t care for the one I have at the moment. The NanoVNA is a nice piece of kit.

Great setup Jason!!! I really need to get a bag like you use for all my gear! I like the way it is all sorted into different sections. That is a lot better than using a backpack. Those other bags and the orange bag are really nice as well. I will definitely be getting those for my gear as well. Setting here today trying to get my stuff organized for Field Day. Also, working on getting my second Raspberry Pi 3b Plus setup as a back up. Already have the extra 32 gig blank card if I need. Good luck on FD, hope to work you. 73 Juddie WD8WV

Damn you Jason, now I'm going to get in trouble when Cindy sees a new camera bag come in and I tell her it's for the radio! That's 3 times I've changed my plans. She is getting sick of me... Mabey if I give her the new bag, I can use her old one.. Hmmm that might stop the gelding process!

Hi! Why not add some more links to the linked dipole, cut it (20m portion) shorter, but put some links there then you have access to the digital and the voice section. Maybe even do the same on the 40m portion.
@KM4ACK
@KM4ACK 4 жыл бұрын
Certainly an option but I think I am going to put together a new EFHW to test on FD if I can find the time.

Jason, how long does your power setup run for you in the field? I’m trying to figure out my power setup and sizing for my 891.
@KM4ACK
@KM4ACK 4 жыл бұрын
That is a loaded question and all depends on how you run your station and what power levels your are running with your rig. Take a look at my FD after action report for 2019 for more info www.dropbox.com/s/5pwgqlwammgsku0/FD%202019%20After%20Action%20Report.pdf?dl=0 I need to do a video on this topic to give more guidance. It really is a hard question to answer because of so many variables. Size of battery? Size of solar panal? Power of radio? Amount of sunshine? Transmit versus receive time? In the end, field experience will answer this question way better than I can.
