This is fantastic. I’ve never seen a rubber band being used but it makes a lot of sense 🌱

thank for this video i just bought a few trees from Lara farms today and it give me a good idea on how he does his cleft graft. not so bad i hope my trees arrive healthy and clean at the graft union. i would've done a better demonstration of it and explain why i cut the way i do towards me to have a cleaner cut for the cambium layer to connect, but hey each they own to learn how to graft just like how i did. hopefully i can receive my trees healthy and when i have seeds from the sapodillas i can graft it myself. at least this video shows me his technique and style and what to expect.

Why did he cut the rootstock offset from the center?
@TrulyTropicalАй бұрын
He did that because the scion was only a fraction of the diameter of the rootstock. By cutting off to one side he was able to line up the cambium layer of both the larger rootstock and smaller scion. This layer, which is just under the bark or outer part of the trunk is the growing part of the truck which must connect between the two pieces in order for the graft to succeed.

Is there a dwarf black sapote variety for a small yard?
@TrulyTropical5 ай бұрын
There is a black sapote variety called, "Reinecke" that has a slow, dwarfing growth habit. Unfortunately, we do not have trees for sale of this variety right now.

@@chaselex Update. Just today we started grafting a few Reinecke black sapote trees. If you are close enough to come pick up a tree we should have a few small trees for sale in a couple months!
