Good morning Lyle, What a wonderful candy store to shop at. It’s GREAT to see a man in his 80’s still sharp. It’s a good thing that you already have most of those items, because I would probably buy them out. Thanks again for the field trip. I can’t wait to see how your Atlas 6” restoration project is going.

Thanks for the store tour. KBC closed their St. Louis location many years ago. I only went in there a very few times. Our company did not use them, so I had other local options. I always thought of them as a lower end supplier and that our vendors focused on the industrial market. Now retired and with a far more developed home shop, I would welcome a similar local source, especially for consumables. Our store focused on lower end import machinery. I didn't see much machinery on display in your camera shots. It looked like they still stock a lot of import inventory that I try to avoid, but was mixed with brands and quality that I have long trusted. I am purchasing most of my consumables online now, but I still prefer being able to do physical inspection and comparison. I would be pleased to have a local KBC option now. What is your opinion about modern mid range staple brands like Palmgren? I saw that they had Palmgren on their shelves. I am very happy with my vintage Palmgren, but I purchased a new (appeared unused) graduated Palmgren cross vise in a Craigslist larger purchase for about $20. I got it home and set it up, and felt like it is worth only about $40. I thought that I could pass it on to one of my offspring that currently have limited shops. It was graduated in mm with inked sheet metal dial plates. It feels almost like it is a good candidate for HF. You could make it work for small crude drill press tolerance hole patterns, but the CI and machining is shockingly cheesy. Has Palmgren gone totally off shore? I have never gone to the big Grizzly store in MO. They are about 4 hours from me. I think that they still pretty much exclusively private label and carry a wide range of very low end product to some upper end product. We have tried some of the Grizzly wood machinery with disappointing results. I have been tempted by their gun smith line of engine lathes just to get into some new machinery at moderate cost. I have never purchased any brand new machinery for my home shop excepting my 14k # vehicle lift. I still really like and trust old industrial machinery. When I do purchase lower end machinery, I prefer to pick it up on the secondary market. I recognize that KBC has a lot of support in the KZfaq community. I would be interested in hearing from others about their loyalty to KBC.

At KBC we stock industrial MRO supplies from over 600 name brand and world class suppliers. We work towards having a good, better, and best option in most categories based upon your job and your budget. The choice between a quality import and a name brand is yours, and with 100,000 SKU's it really is a lot of choice. By the way we ship anywhere in The US and Canada. Have a great day tooling around, Paula Bass, KBC Tools & Machinery

Never been in a machine shop store like that. Harbor Freight and the occasional wood working store is all we have around here. Seems strange to see machine shop tools in a store instead of a catalog. How come KBC hasn't sold out to MSC like all the others have?

You recently have made several comments about losing viewers. I also subscribe to a channel called "Bearded Butchers ", which is also an educational channel that teaches people how to butcher their own livestock. They disappeared from my feed several months ago, and recently showed up again. Seems that they got shadow banned, and their account just got reinstated. In the comments one viewer said that a woodworking channel he subscribes to disappeared for a few months, and when it reappeared all of the woodworkers previous videos had been deleted, which caused several sponsors to drop his channel. Sad how liberals behave when they have power. So I guess that you can try to rein in the conservative comments that you make, or starve with the rest of us conservatives. Might also check the archives to see if your older videos are still available.

I see they're selling a new lathe.New lathes are(or were)traditionally sold bare bones when new, chuck and other accesories were always extra. These asian jobs throw in everything including the kitchen sink,Now what has that always told you?People of a certain age have always known what THAT means in past times.

Sorry, 75 and I don't know what 'THAT' means, guess I'm dense & need it spelt out? Thanks. The optional extra add-ons list was usually ridiculous, and now some are govt. mandated like door mount rear-view mirrors. Even in the early 90's it was damn hard to find something without power steering & brakes & AC!

Maybe I need a new phone. Freezes up on comments. Forgot what i was commenting about already. Hey Pete, be careful in Chigago, plus have you ate at the Billy goat? Cheeseburgers are their specialty. Old buddy of mine used to offer me a ride to Chicago in his truck, he didn't have a second seat, just a lawn chair, hey he didn't want to listen to a second air ride seat rattle , plus it gave him more room in cab. Never took him up on offer.

Sorry, but now they can't make a living only selling quality. Stuff will always be made cheaper & faster, so they can't afford to pass up on something that may also actually be better, though it seems like that'll never happen. Think of the cheap stuff a a learning experience! :)

I certainly believe in God or a creator, if you will, and it's not a matter of faith, but rather simple logic. I'll explain. Just look at all of the millions of different animals on this planet and the tools they DON'T build and DON'T use. Sure, a few animals use some very primitive tools such as a stick or a rock, but most don't use any tools and certainly don't build any! Some say it's brain size that matters, but many animals have much larger brains than humans and they don't build/use tools. Man alone is a tool builder and its mind-blowing when you reflect upon the wide array and complexity of his tools!
