With a glove, grab hold of the different heat shields around the turbo and see if the noise goes away. Mine makes a similar noise because of the heat shield being split at the bottom

Blocked Oil pump probably . You can unscrew the oil feeding pipe on top of the turbo and start the engine to check is it there oil pressure.

If your oil light stays on for about 5 seconds after startup, then your oil pickup is clogged

Stupid timing belt inside the engine is worn out and its wear blocked the oil pump pick up pipe

I see Ford never lost it. Oil starvation, wet belt fragments blocking the oil pickup pump. The worst of Ford engineering.

Get the 1.5 TDCI engine is reliable, only had one failure once.

You should get the 1.5 TDCI engine it's fuel effcient and reliable. If you get your oil changes and servicing done, car shouldn't give u the problem.

There bit of a tapping noise when cold but the sound should fade with driving. This seems to be normal as it happens from new although im not sure why its a similar sound to when the engine is actually damaged

@@cameronlotter1392I have the same exact issue. I don’t know what it is! Only code I have is the evap purge valve.. I just want answers. It only does it when it’s warm.

Wet belt Rubber breaks down and sheds rubber into the sump and blocks the pick up pipe . Result A dead engine !!

Yup they are fatal for it. It turned out to be a piston but probably caused by the belt.

Hi there, It turned out to be a broken piston so it had a full rebuild. Ecopro in Lincolnshire done it and it's been fine ever since.

@@hitheshraj7354 £1300.00 plus a couple of hundred to have it transported. It's still going now and hasn't had any issues since.

Did you manage to solve this. Sounds like mine was before I fixed it in seconds let me know if you still need help, fyi the fault is ridiculous I bought mechanic stethoscope to dial in the issue I found. As soon as I fixed engine was back to perfect running order no noise at all

@@ADV_PO the mechanical fuel pump back right hand side of the engine. Connected to the intake cam there is an upside down hydraulic lifter with curved edges and 4 holes in that lubricates the area. If it starts to stick you get the mechanical clicking noise of the cam tapping the bottom on the lifter it's also why when you accelerate it speeds up 👍

Replaced just the lifter and it's all fixed. Made the exact same noise as a normal hydraulic lifter sticking

Those small turbo engines are doomed to fail, 2ton on the odometer and they are written off. Too much forces on such a small block, go for the 1.6-2.0 engines.

Most of them fail due to poor servicing and using the incorrect oil. Timing belt in sump is a stupid design, however I routinely see high mileage EcoBoost engines (I’m a car trader), and they are a absolutely fine so long as they have full main dealer service history, wet belts are rarely changed on schedule due to the expense, sometimes it’s cheaper to fit a newer lower mileage replacement engine than have the wet belt changed.

Good engines if serviced regularly with the correct oil! Only fail when neglected. Yes agree the wet belt isn’t the best idea but still cracking little engines

Yeah it's back from a engine rebuild it was a broken piston skirt on cylinder 2. Eco Pro in Lincolnshire done the job and it's very good now.

Cambelt starts to break up. Blocks oli pump then starves engine of oil. Very common on ecoboost engine.
