Some people, do not bother to check water & oil levels regularly, did they not even, look at the water temp gauge, when out driving.

That’s a new gearbox , my son’s fiesta had a recon box with same problem . As the fiesta I agree people seem to be not stopping when they see a red warning light on the dash . What a start to a Monday for you 👍

Replacement gear box needed, I wouldn't take a chance driving around with a gear box which could have loose metal floating around in it.

Mark I dont think that car should be driven at all, that bearing is totally worn out and the rollers could end up jamming the gears compleatly. You don't want to be responsible for allowing it back on the road. Replacement gearbox is essential.

Hi Mark , did the driver not notice the gauge go to bloody hot turn it off lol do not drive, SOUNDS LIKE DRIVER FAULT NOT YOURS Hose is a wear and tear item when it got hot they should have turned it off straight away, I very much doubt this is an insurance issue

These early fiestas don’t have a temperature gauge iirc , which never helps in a situation like this, the late ones have. A light coming on when it’s cooking is no good imo. A split hose is a shame as the 1.25 is such a reliable engine . The bottom clip on the radiator corrodes also and becomes loose causing a drip while eventually will lead to an overheating situation. As with any car, popping the bonnet now and again to keep an eye on levels is a must.

well used and abused in that time, didn't even check the engine temperature or the oil and water since bought i reckon, low budget customer who doesn't care about the car.

Put the drive shaft back in and see if theirs any movement in the diff bearings on the driveshafts cups

These days drivers have little connection with the car or environment they are in. Years ago drivers would have noticed the telltale signs of an overheating engine and stopped to avoid further damage. But there are more drivers now with little knowledge and are more concerned about getting to where they want to go. You can guarantee this driver had no regard to water or oil levels, tyre pressures or gauges. I hope its sorted amicably. Its not your fault, you make the cars mechanically sound before sale. You are not selling a new car and this could happen to any older car. And the second car is a further example of a driver disconnected, and unaware how a vehicle works...

cant believe you told them to commit fraud on insurance. it only covers damage to car not engine car under warranty as you trader. if they take you to court you wont have leg to stand on. .

Engine replacement and then gearbox replacement.... did you try to buy these cars from the customers? perhaps that is the best option for everyone.

Mark, the Fiesta very suspect, buy it back and parts car it. The Kuga, that's a call to Gala Motors I think, second hand gearbox job I think.😐

That fiesta should be warranty unless you clearly state what mileage and time your warranty last up to. That kuga gearbox is dangerous it could at best seize up and worst explode there's hardened roller bearings loose in that case and only bad things can happen could even cause an accident if the gearbox locks up bring the car to a sudden stop without brake lights on just the cost of recovering this car could exceed the cost of a replacement gearbox and you still need a gearbox. The fiesta module may not work some modules have the vin number imbedded in them and the ecu will not recognise it if the vin numbers do not match, I had a problem with a focus audio module replaced it with an identical part number module and that would not work scanning it the vin number of the doner car was imbedded in it there may be a way of changing the vin number on the module maybe someone knows a way.

@@stevenc5227 But all she's done is drive the car with no warning lights or temp gauge she would need a crystal ball to know its overheating, nearest i have ever got to this was a focus and when that just slightly overheated you would think the world was coming to its end we got loud audio gongs and a red warning engine overheating stop!! on the display this car done nothing clearly a faulty temp sensor. the only time i would not entertain warranty is if it had stone or accident damage.

On the car wiht the gearbox oil seal, did you discuss a used gearbox? If ther are metal pieces moving around, its possible the final drive may come apart. iThey used to call this a grenade bos),

Do you ever think when wheels and drive shafts are damaged in the original accidents that they may transfer some of the force to the bearing in the gearbox with eventual failure

This isn’t his fault. It’s a 13 year old car and has done 4500 miles since he sold it.

I doesn’t work like that because of the consumer protection laws however in my opinion mark is wise enough and sensible enough to be able to prove that the fault was not there at the point of sale and the 4500 miles also proved that as it wouldn’t last 45 miles with a water leak I’m just speaking from personal experience if the customer is completely unreasonable it’s easier to make it go away because no matter how you try and repair it the chances are it would never be any good in there eyes even if it was perfect but it looks like his customer is understanding

@@sparky1543 it don't matter the age of the car if you sell it as a dealer hoses should be checked and should be in a condition that you can drive it for a reasonable time and mileage.

@@sparky1543 ohh come on it's a lady driver not a boy racer no warning lights no stone or accident damage, the only time she knew anything was wrong was steaming engine and yes if I sold it I would fix it for free , not blaming mark you live and learn check hoses.
