The way I see it, acrobatic saves were invented for mostly keepers who don't have the height and reach advantage, so they had to jump a lot to reach out for the shots, and their legs do more work. Traditional saves depends on contact with the ball and positioning, hence why most traditional saves are done with two hands.

Onnethox yeah, traditional keepers tend to stay closer to the center of the goal, they don’t launch themselves as much as the acrobatic keepers, who seem like they can almost go from one post to the other just by diving

Onnethox I’m 5’6” but I’m not very good at diving, so positioning is everything for me. If I don't get my angles covered I have to rely on my human reflexes and my fat little 14 y/o body to get in the way :) This is why I'm a sub goalie but enough about me

Acrobatic have better reflex and reactions, and they style are more beauty. Also they can save impossible shots, but almost all the time they send the ball to corner, even in easy balls, unnecessary sometimes, but still better

That's the downside I've seen as well for the acrobatic gk since they act heavily based off reaction save resulting in the ball being parried more often.

I'm a negative mix of traditional and acrobatic. I have the diving power of a traditional goalkeeper, and the handling power of an acrobatic one, so if I DO reach a slightly wide shot all I can do is parry it out. Even if it's right at me I need to knock it down before I can catch it. I've only played for 2 years but COME ON.

Acrobatic save looks more beautiful but tend to concede unecessary corner, even it's a clear easy ball that supposed to be caught. Traditional GKs is straightforward safe playing style, catch it if it's possible, parry it away if it's kinda tricky

Seems to me like acrobatic has a higher chance of reaching wider shots as they jump more and I’d think further but they are also more likely to spill the ball as most of their saves involve one hand or two palming it away. Traditional mostly uses two hands so are more likely to catch the ball but for wider shots or for reflex shots may not be as effective as they don’t jump as often or as far it seems. But I partly agree with someone who said acrobatic tends to be for smaller keepers and traditional for taller keepers so that may not mean as much as it sounds because of the natural reach of the taller keepers. But joe hart who is acrobatic is not small he’s 6’4 so questionable as how correct this is. I’d think in game acrobatic would be better at diving and reflexes while traditional have better handling and potentially positioning. In fut you could use the style things I forgot what they are called to either buff the other stats or buff the stronger stats. Eg donnaruma could have the cat style to make his diving and reflexes incredible or the wall to make his less than ideal handling better I believe

Each style has its own benefits. Me, a 6' tall, 200 lb guy, would have broken bones trying to do some of those acrobatic moves. On the other hand, my partner in crime, a 5' 7" 150 lb kid, would likely never have saved a single shot if he didn't rely on acrobatic saves and speed. It's like a semi truck trying to drift and a sports car trying to pull a trailer: possible, but terribly inefficient. Each style works better for each type of keeper.

There’s is no differnce to the style. The only alternation is the way it looks. It doesn’t make the goalkeeper any better that he can do more “acrobatic” saves. Still love the acrobatic animation tho ;)

Acrobatic gks are trying to save shots with one hand while traditional are always doing it with two hands. Furthermore, traditional gks never save shots with their legs and that's unrealistic.

Having been a keeper most of my life diving is high wear and tear on the body. Traditional allows you land more support and in less awkward motions. The acrobatic stuff is more reward but also rougher on the body.

Acrobatic ones have more reflexes and is more beatifull. Traditional in the other hand (literally lol) is more safe, having more handling with his hands, and for me, is more realistic

there is almost no difference... A few saves had difference but because the ball didn't come in the same angle as the previous traditional one shown... Acrobatic goalkeepers tend to have better reflexes and diving saves, but less catching ability

Acrobatic GK's have a higher chance of letting in a sloppy goal from short distance (they're not very good at handling/catching the ball, they tend to just knock out even an easy shot rather than just catch the ball which provides a higher chance to let in a sloppy goal or cause an unlucky deflection or even can often lead to a second striking chance often at the open neat due to bounce off balls) but will be great at defending even impossible long range shots (due to flexibility mid air, traditional GK's seems more stiff, but again it affects the game just a little bit, because height of a GK and their statistics in game are far more crucial than this).

acrobatic goalkeepers best when used to saves short range shots or 1v1(they also get up quickly after they parry the ball away).meanwhile traditional goalkeepers usually best against mid and long range shots . but they bad at reflexes especially on 1v1 . the only thing that help the traditional goalkeepers on 1v1 is their size and height

I played goalkeeper all my life but never on a professional level, at 6,3/170 lbs I played traditional but my reflexes were acrobatic…am not athletic even tho my physique, looks like I am but my cat reflex was on a different level an I thought I was a bad boy till I played a team with a goalkeeper that was about 5ft11/230lbs an his acrobatic skills put me to shame! He answered my questions why I never became professional! I like the type of keepers who control the team and the tempo! Which I wasn’t like that I just mind my business an played my position with anger and recklessness. If u didn’t enjoy my story I apologise

What I’ve notice in FIFA is if you have a keeper 6’3 or taller, they are by far better even if their overall is shit. I experimented that with my Everton CM where most games I played with Pickford I conceded and average of 3 goals against me once I replaced him with Robles, robles saves lots of shots and concedes 1 occasionally two goals

De Gea is one of the finest. But as the video shows, being an acrobatic GK, he goes for one hand and sometimes I believe even delays his jumps.
