The reason these teams finish in lower positions is to do with fifa's code which plays the team's original players. For example, after 4 years you'll still see Ragnar Klavan starting as Liverpool's left sided CB despite being 35 years old and around 67 rated even when Liverpool sign a world class defender. Another example is Messi and Ronaldo continue to start games for Barca and Madrid when they're in they're mid to late 30s and declining to around 83 overall with pace in the 50s. The game is badly coded and has been for a while, EA are lazy when it comes to this, they add shit we don't care for but ignore the shit that needs fixing, like regenerate strikers with much worse finishing than expected given their overall, or really tall wide players and 5"6 centre backs.
