1. This called jockey movement. It's good to intercept the ball when you close the gaps. Also L2 has shielding function. 2. They play with high rated icon players in their teams, over 90. So they move faster, faster reaction and have a better stamina. 3. It seems you have not the best gamepad for FIFA.

boniman I just use the standard xbox 1s wireless controller. Should I be using another? For #1, when do you press the L2? I do use it for jockeying often. Am just curious when you use it to take the ball. I had been using the tackle button to do that but am def open to a better way.

@@-youngish Will L2 you can approach the opponents players slowly and be ready at all times to turn and follow him wherever he tries to go. When sprinting or running normally, it is harder to follow quick movements. So when the gap isn't too big, I often use L2, when there's a bigger distance, then sprinting is useful. - CruZzAve

I think it's very easy to play against players like this. It's difficult when I play with my friends offline, because they use Legacy defending and hold constant pressing button, so they let AI to tackle and intercept the ball.

Would love to, but the problem is that these animations take a lot of time. There might be a solution with a new tool that captures the controller inputs in real time. Might be implemented in the next videos! - CruZzAve

Marshmaloo I'm in Div1 and I'm not that bad in defending. For me using RB button is crucial when you're defending... Oh and I never use the A button. If you're afraid of creating gaps just use RB for pressing on the opponent "that" has the ball while using another player to fill those gaps and intercept passing lanes

Mathew Bevan when u press rb whilst controlling another player the nearest player will put pressure on the ball holder whilst u still control your player and close spaces

I use it a lot I would say but you always have to be careful not to create gaps in your own defense. Just watch out that there is a player close to the opponent (with the transparent triangle over its head) who you actually want to go and pressure the ballholder. If the R1-player will be from the backline or your stabilising midfielder for example, then you should rather not use the button in this moment. - CruZzAve

Well, I wouldn't say that this is unusual. If you watch the examples in the videos, often my defenders are a few meters away aswell. The key is to switch early enough so that you can already close the gap during the pass and then aggressively tackle when the opponent is receiving the ball (before he is able to juke with a good dribbling or another pass). Practice thinking ahead and switching as fast as possible. I play depth 4 and balanced defensive style and it's definitely possible to still pressure like this! :) In terms of buttons, for the first two examples I showed what I pressed on the controller animation. Sometimes I approach with L2-Steps, sometimes just with normal speed and for big gaps like in the scene with Bailly even with sprint. - CruZzAve
