Anyone else find defending completely broken this year

People with bad connections will have no chance this year with the current state of defending.

Defending this year you literally tackle 3 times and the opponent still has the ball. Just bounces all over the place.

Every game I play I have to make around 30 passes to get anywhere near the goal and I lose the ball and my opponent will make 2 or 3 passes and scores my defence no we’re to be seen

im sorry but ea have so fucked up the defending this year, when u try to tackle u either give a foul away, or u just dont win the ball at all and they continue to attack, or they just hold onto the ball even when ur pressing stand tackle, literally feel like ur player doesnt even want to tackle, no matter where i position myself no matter if im pressing i CANT win the ball back, i play on legendary and every game im getting 30% possesion and its pissing me off, theres a fine line between realistic and just fucking stupid, whats the point in playing career mode when im spending 90% of my time watching the bots with the ball and note even attacking myself, and when i do finally attack the computer are so good at defending icant even create chances unless i abuse pace, im so fed up already theve ruined defending this year idc

Finding defending hard this year. Applied some custom tactics and used 4-2-3-1 so I can get used to the mechanics. Defo helped!

My tackle button only works like 3/10 times. That's so weird, when charging to an opponent dribbling the ball, my player would be just looking lost without the tackle efforts.

Would request you to do a video on the defensive tactics..it looks, maybe im wrong, when playing against AI, all the players are on aggressive interception or maybe constant pressure..when trying to apply the same to my team, the player movement becomes sluggish and run out of steam pretty fast..and my players never seem to be aggressove enough to win the ball back..yet when playing against AI thats not the case..hoping to get a reply from you on this..thanks in advance

Hey guys got a big question has standing tackle been nerfed? should i use R1+O for an instant hard tackle? everytime am defending on the wing i try to use the standing tackle and i just cant seem to get the ball i tackle the attacker and he just passes me and the same thing happens with my CBs i stand tackle and usually they get right through me even with strong defenders like Laporte the only way i can defend is if i don't press him at all and i just jockey on him with hopes i can get the ball or just slide tackle witch is effective any ideas?cheers

How about the keepers? Can they be manually moved again with pressing in on the right analog stick. I keep hearing that keepers are weak in fifa 21, so I'm wondering if this feature will help with angles and turning away shots.

So basically, you take control of every player. You make every tackle. You close down on every attacker. You do everything. The problem with fifa in general is that, it's experienced players have no problem playing arcade football. There are certain things AI defenders should be doing INTRINSICALLY. They should close down INTRINSICALLY. They should track down loose footballs INTRINSICALLY. If you watch real football, every time a pass is made, everyone has a job and they achieve their task to the best of their ability. In Fifa you do everyone's job, which is arcade in nature. Have you ever seen a real football game, play like how Fifa plays? I didn't think so.

Hi ovvy. There’s one thing that’s been working for me since fifa20 on defense. It’s literally pushing the running attacker that’s trying to make the diagonal run (not the one with the ball) with the cdm. It’s Like making what in basketball is the illegal screen. It has helped me a lot, idk why that is not a foul in fifa (it is irl), the rival ends up making a pass to the nowhere. I do it by running into the running attacker (again, not the one with the ball) while doing the running jockey. What do you think?

Are you playing on tactical defending or legacy defending?

A small tip as an addition: Use "right analog stick switch ON BALL" instead of the default option "right analog stick switch ON PLAYER".

Sliding tackles are great in Fifa21? Playing with my friends on daily basis and it's, in my opinion, most unreliable way to get the ball from the opponent. It's very lagish, sometimes even go through the player without taking a ball, or player just stumbles over a bit.

when move back this 1-2 meters space the striker will simply shoot the ball with a great advantage that shooting from any angle will be successful , if you tried to get closer he will very easily get through you no matter what you try to do , simply Fifa 21 give a very big and unreasonable advantage to attacking over defending !!
