@@JisoosStarlight You know what? I've been listening to Japanese bands for a while now because American modern rock is lacking any kind of authenticity. Art School has become my favorite Japanese rock band. They're fantastic!

I've stopped listening to western pop music since about 2010. It's just garbage. Alot of kpop is just as bad but some of it's okay. Fifty Fifty and New Jeans.

I would guess they had a monolingual or a truly bilingual native anglophone do the lyrics or double check them. It’s the same in Greek. No Greek singer should EVER release anything in English. It ain’t hit or miss, it’s horrible every time. I mean, “this beat can make my heart beat like a drum…I really like the flavor of this chewing gum,” for example. It couldn’t be more unenglish if it tried and that’s a real lyric! But then you have a singer whose English just sounds exactly like an American talking and even hits the right syllables we say and silences the ones we don’t, no pronouncing every syllable as if you’re sounding out a word…well, that always ends up being a Greek American or Greek South African or Greek Australian. Really, they simply should be banned from using English it’s so so bad otherwise…

But yeah, I dunno about a ban and I can't say that I'm familiar with Greek music, but I've listened to tons of J- and K- music for decades and I always dig the noble attempt to throw in some English. I can't say that it fails -all- of the time, but definitely when they go for longer stanzas, the way the lyricist breaks up the words is often odd and very unwieldy for an actual English speaker (Clazziquai is very guilty of this, but their songs are still sweet). That's what was so surprising about this track. There's maybe only one or two points where it gets a bit weird, but it's very minor and overall probably one of the very best I've seen if not the best ever.

Part of their training new generation of KPOP are globalize, that's why they are expected to be able to sing an English version of their songs. It is normal since KPOP groups do even release Japanese for the Japanese..

@@paul5475 That may be true, but a lot have a very noticeable accent. These girls did quite well and I didn't realize it was a kpop group at first from just listening to the song only.

​@@Rezzmari I wonder about that too, I checked their info seems none of them grew up in the states/English speaking country or attended an international school but for some reason their accent is top notch, it sounds so natural, normally a lot of Korean speakers has a thicker accent when speaking English as you said.
