@@judithpeter2985 Disagree. Here’s why: Not seen movie, but I’m guessing Sawyer is tasked with Ana’s protection. Delaying information regarding her safety is a ‘Big No No’ to any loving husband. Looks very bad for Sawyer too, no matter how she spins it. He works for Grey, not Ana.

I think there are dual themes of this movie: women's power and men's growing up... at this point, even though Christian makes a huge progress from the beginning, he is still learning to love as a mature man. He is cool to Ana on one hand Ana disobeys him for going out despite they were followed before. On the other hand, like someone else said here he also blames himself for not being around Ana when she was attacked. It is immaturity, but this reflects the stage he is in. And because of this scene, it will make more sense when Christian finds out later he is going to be father. Unlike most men, becoming fathers is joyful, but in his case, because of his past baggage, Christian Grey finds it scary, and wonders if he is up to what future might hold.

The scene doesn't show everything. He's not stopping her from seeing her friends. Jack was free after the first time he attacked her, setting fire to GEH's server room, and other threats. Christian had to go to NYC, and Ana promised she would stay home with Kate, but let Kate talk her out instead. Christian was mad at himself for not being there and scared out of his mind that she could've been hurt, it looks like anger. He had made amazing strides toward a normal relationship but was still learning how to handle emotions. And you can't dismiss that Ana was ignoring his calls all night. She knew she was breaking her promise and it would upset him.

I don’t understand how jack got out of jail after this. There are two professional bodyguards that caught him with a knife and trying to kidnap Ana. And jack claims that she invited him over. I’m not a lawyer but that sounds like a weak defense. Testament to the books horrible writing.
