Brilliant. One of the most important scenes in any movie in the last 50 years. This speech is the truth, and it signifies the reason why the country (and the world) is the way it is today. This was before social media, but it speaks to that whole phenomenon as well. We can replace "we've all been raised on television" with "Social Media", and it still fits perfectly.

Sam Sguanch Us Americans do have easier lives than most in a traditional sense I suppose. But go look at most “third world” countries, people are living in what we call poverty but they seem to be much more happier with their lives. This is probably because in America most people are brainwashed through media into spending so much of their lives just trying to impress people. Focus on love and family in the USA is valued much less than it is in a South American country, our society places much more value on having a “good job” even if you don’t like it so you can have way more excess money than you need. Thats just my interpretation of it at least, the “other people have it worse than me I should be content with my miserable life” mentality really isn’t a good one to have.

I was obsessed with this movie, when I was 17, 18 years old. I wanted to be ripped like Brad Pitt was in the movie. I looked up his workout routine, and diet plan for the movie, and did them. I didn't get anywhere near as ripped as him, but it did start to work. My arms started getting toned out, and I got the start of a pretty good six pack. But then I missed junk food, and got lazy, and began letting it all go. I'm about to start doing it again. Unfortunately I'm 30 now, and am feeling my age lol. At 17, and 18, it's pretty easy.
