My Fight Countdown to Canelo Alvarez vs Jermell Charlo - a battle between two undisputed champions on September 30th. Canelo puts his four super middleweight titles on the line against undisputed junior middleweight king, Jermell Charlo.
It will be the third defence of Canelo's Undisputed status, and Charlo's first fight up at 168 pounds. Whilst the public were surprised to learn it would be the Junior Middleweight Charlo (as opposed to the Middleweight, Jermall Charlo), Jermell has made it clear that the plan all along was for him, not his brother, to fight Canelo this September.
And though he's required to jump up two weight divisions, most experts agree that size won't play a factor considering Canelo himself is a small Super Middleweight and once competed in the same division as Jermell.

For the longest time, he seemingly refused to learn English, even though during about 95% of his rise, he's living in the US... so this change him Canelo, in his using very good English, the last few years... it surprises me, too. Because now, he is able to express himself more appropriately, with nuances, wit, and some of the deeper thoughts translation by someone else can't come through... I had the biggest smile on my face, as someone having watched, in junior high & high school, the greats of the 1980s and 90s... when I heard Canelo, with a smile on his face, said: beyond 154, I've always been the smallest and shortest guy, so it doesn't matter whom I fight. It's skills that matter, not size... Well, yes and no. Bivo was just way too big, too strong, & too taller. When skills are comparable and someone is clear 2-3 natural divisions abvoe you, it's hard to overwhelm them...

@@jorge5275Canelo started at 154, he looked for a Jermell fight. Jermell ducked, confirmed by De la Hoya and by Jermells own twin. Canelo ventured away from his true weight class for tougher competition. Jermell who is more than able to move up in weight, has not and has held his belts hostage for two years. Now there was all this talk about how Canelo was afraid of this bozo, and now clowns like are you are saying this is a cherry pick. What a vajayjay you are.

Canelo rehydrated within 10lbs in his last fight at middleweight which is lighter than what Mell weighs at JR MW, yet Canelo jumped straight up to 175 and is dwarfed even at 168. The notion that It's straight up comical to pretend like Canelo is a huge super middleweight and Charlo is undersized.

The video was in my feed. But this guy gave great analysis, statistics, background, and breakdown of both fighters. So even if you knew nothing about these fighters before, you would now. Most countdowns I don't even watch because it's often biased, inaccurate, or plain click bait. You sound as if you're offended because I said this was the BEST countdown I've seen. Well. It is! Watching Charlo's last fight, I just can't imagine him winning against Alvarez. Castano fights similarly to Alvarez, but Alvarez has a ton more leverage on his punches and is generally a smarter fighter. The 5" reach advantage should have been something Charlo could use against Castano but didn't do it enough. With Alvarez, it's only a 2.5" difference and that isn't at all an advantage against Canelo. I'm going to predict knockout in the 8th by Alvarez.

I hope Canelo takes him lightly. I hope Canelo tries the same approach he took vs Ryder. I hope Canelo once again gets frustrated and just starts wailing away. It will make for a really good fight because its an excellent style matchup. Regardless, of preparations, this will always have been a good fight. Pretty cool to see two undisputed champions going at it. Not the best fight to be made, but a good one.

This is going to be a good one. Beside Bivol, Charlo is Canelo's best opponent since the second GGG fight. Charlo is not Billy Joe or Plant. He has meaningful power, excellent combinations, and smooth movement. I figure Canelo wins, but going against Charlo (potentially both) and Benavidez will be fantastic fights. Also, does anyone take anything that De La Hoya says seriously, he is right up there with Dana White as the biggest hater in the sport.

BJS or Plant would sleep Charlo...its why Charlo never tried to go up in weight and do what Alvarez did...what everybody said Alvarez couldnt do...every single fight Alvarez was going to lose to bigger, longer stronger slicker fighters...It took a Light heavyweight undefeated prime champion with the best defensive numbers in boxing to do it. Charlo isnt half a Bivol on his BEST day

Charlo's a good, tough fighter. But he's taking a huge step up here. He was taken to the limit by Castano twice. I don't know how he's gonna be able to deal with a strong, skilled fighter like Canelo. It'd be a huge upset

Thank you for creating these, I needed to see a new one to cleanse my palette after watching my boy Erroll Spence Jr. get outboxed by Crawford. Canelo has always been my favourite since I was in highschool but I like Jermell Charlo as well, this is gonna be a very tough challenge for him considering the weight and opponent. Canelo by UD.

What I noticed with Canelo in my humble opinion is during the 8-12th rounds when he has you like throughout the fight on the ropes and you slip out to the side he throws a hook that’s a bit longer ( farther reach) than you’ve been seeing and clip his opponents, I studied that, The Krusher was a shell of himself as the first Ward fight he felt cheated and it got to him and like his trainer Jackson said at that time The Krusher who intimidated opponents was drinking often around the pool with yes men, So he was weak to the body like Usryk and Arthur B and he didn’t carry the same mystic or intimidation after the Ward second fight he initially was hurt to the chin and Ward went to town in the body , He complained ? May have a point on some shots there or may not ? Each of us has our opinion , Ward was digging them in , I noticed that with Canelo , Is it by design or coincidental ?

Bivol beat Canelo because his Fundamentals are so sound. He doesn't do anything flashy its just great in and out movement and great footwork and he just outworks guys and doesnt really get hit back

What are ya'll predictions heading into this fight ? I personally see it going 2 ways 1. Canelo is on his footwork slipping applying pressure early letting combinations connect to set up a stoppage, Canelo has to stay poised has to be on his ps&gs can't afford to give charlo rounds if charlo gets comfortable and starts pressing canelo while being a close fight making it a dog fight that's when canelo could see the lights and go for the k.o/tko. 2. If Jermell tries to outbox canelo from round 1 then he will be super successful and yes he does have crazy k.o power too can't sleep on that. However I don't see Jermell being the one to stop canelo I have more faith in bud doing so then Jermell. Jermell has a good 30-40% of winning this fight and that's huge however he will have to do it on pts and Will have to pocket atleast 7-8 rounds to beat canelo. Jermell best blue print is how Floyd's schooled canelo. He can look at Bivol as well but Bivol is a 175 pounder and arguably the best in 175 has top 3 jab for sure Jermell has good jab but I feel like canelo won't settle to give up the jab anymore. Bivol is a demon super strong fighter as well people can say maybe he could've gotten canelo out of there but he didn't. Canelo has a bigger chip on his shoulder then Jermell does. Canelo can't afford to loose his undisputed to a 154 pounder Jermell moving up 168. Jermell would be the second person to be a 2x undiluted behind Crawford and that would be huge. My take canelo has no choice but to get stoppage after inoue and Crawford performance. May the best man that night
