It does look very cool

Do you know the reason there are 2 different designs? Did it get updated when the manga got re-released?
@Basher.G Жыл бұрын
@@magortom I don't know why it's designed different in the manga but the version used in the anime is based on the one that appears in the Shaman Files (a book containing background information and trivia about the series as well as official illustrations of the characters). This book probably came out after the series so perhaps Takei decided to redesign the oversoul (maybe to make it look more like an armor type) just for that.

Actually a lot of designs were changed and uodated by the author in the character file book. The difference came probably because the author wanted to update the things before he ended the series since he took a long break before it.

@@NorthernWind_Vlll I respect it cuz to be honest the armor design in the manga is kind of boring and doesn't look much like Tokageroh. Like I think all of us recognize that as much as he's so lovable Ryo is not a main character at least compared to elemental warriors and I think that first design showed us just how much he wasn't a focus when the manga was originally being written

Is it me or is the timing a bit off? They are already in the second room and Hao isnt even where he should be for his nap yet. I know they will get slowed down because they have to pace themselfs. But Hao's sleep should be a little more than a catnap.

Great clip but just one thing about this sucks, this was the debut of Ryu’s armor Over Soul and it was supposed to be one of his most badass moments and he ends up losing that sucks
@NorthernWind_Vlll2 жыл бұрын
Oh I mean yeah, he's got a great OS, just doesn't mean he measures up as well as the others because he became shaman veey late, unlike everyone else.

Yeah that’s fair

Takei could have done a lot more with Ryū.

@@FearsomeVoid same with Faust, Hao's minions, Jeanne, the X laws in general and many other parts that would've greatly benefited from more exploration and role, sadly they aren't.

@@NorthernWind_Vlll I think one of the most underrated aspects of Ryu's strength is his unique brand of swordsmanship. Although he's not a legendary samurai like Amidamaru, I always found it cool that Ryu had a basic yet intriguing style in how he delivered his attacks - simple but effective strokes against the Boz bros, the Cheetah of the En Tao's elite guard, against Dracula Tepes - and here he demonstrates perhaps one of the greatest swordsmanship feats in the entire series by fileting Red Rope into pieces. Provided that we can safely assume he was self-taught with the sword (albeit wooden) and had no formal training, it's cool to see how his fighting style evolved over the course of the series and in blending his culinary prowess with his aforementioned skill, Ryu had the potential marks of being a serious contender in the series. I think one direction Takei could have taken with Ryu was making him a natural born shaman who had raw, undeveloped talent that could help him close the gap between him and his shamanic peers. Maybe instead of being able to wield multiple spirits in different ways (like Yoh, Ren, Chocolove, and Horohoro did throughout the series), perhaps Ryu could have been great at drawing out 1 spirit's potential better by comparison to make up for his initial lack of formal training and late inclusion into the spiritual world. We even see that his furyoku level of 85,000 was actually not that far from the main group despite the fact he became a shaman very late in life and basically fills the "gatekeeper" role of the group - a similarity not unlike Piccolo's role in the early makings of DBZ well into the Cell Saga. As reference, Ren had the lowest value of 100,001 and Ryu wasn't even one of the 5 Elemental Warriors. Another key to Ryu's potential that wasn't fleshed out was Tokageroh's own skill with the sword - Tokageroh had developed his own brand of fighting called "Tokage Kenpo" and yet we've never seen any example of it being shown, as Ryu never showcased his usage of Spirit Integration like Yoh's earlier usages with Amidamaru. In fact, Tokageroh also holds 2 swords in his arsenal just like Amidamaru did. Even being the bandit that he was in life, it would have been cool to see how Tokageroh's Tokage Kenpo would have worked if given the opportunity. I'm inclined to believe he more than likely had more of a chaotic but dangerous style based on his circumstances in his lifetime. All in all, I think Ryu was heavily slept on overall and he actually became one of my favorite characters by the end of the series despite his limited appearances in battle. 💯💯
