The longimanus like many other shark species is critically endangered due to the overfishing by industrial fishing and the constant demand for shark fins from Asia. Sharks are a crucial part of the oceans eco system and have to be protected. The pointless slaughter of sharks has to stop and is well documented in movies like "Fin" or "Envoy: Shark Cull".

I see it listed as THREATENED, but not CRITICALLY ENDANGERED. Their numbers are way down, but I think it’s important to keep our sharks and their listings accurate. For example, bull sharks, lemons and blacktips are enjoying very high populations in many of their ranges. Where people follow the rules, conservation works. The corrections need to be made in the areas of abuse, and not raise restrictions for those who are already following the rules in other areas.

@@driftless1870 I checked a few sources which say critically endangered. For example here: www.researchgate.net/publication/350810288_Carcharhinus_longimanus-Oceanic_Whitetip_Shark_The_IUCN_Red_List_of_Threatened_Species_2019 Either endangered or critically endangered: They need protection.

@@buchpetzer I am completely opposed to shark finning and industrial fishing practices. (Not to be confused with commercial fishing.) My concern is that, in an effort to stop abuses abroad, we implement policies at home that do a disservice to the habitats and marine environments we enjoy and support with good conservation practices. Too often we tend to respond to a global concern with local control. You can’t make your waist smaller by over-tightening your shoe laces.

@@ParleLeVu They do. I scuba dived and free dived a lot with sharks and while some cautiously stay around, most flee after a few moments. Sharks are extremely cautious creatures that will take no unnecessary risks and you really see that first hand when you’re underwater with them and your fear quickly dissipates and you even end up wishing they got a little closer. Oceanic white tip on the other hand has balls of brass and will get super close and won’t hesitate to take a bite if it finds the opportunity. That’s literally the only shark I would feel uncomfortable to scuba dive with.

Stones have such a distinctive sound, so many fantastic songs over the decades it's hard to list favourites. Gimme Shelter has had some great live performances, even as an opening with the female singing that haunting tune, with each of the Stone's coming on, Charlie first picks up drums, then Ronnie, Keith before the best ever front man Mick taunts the crowds. I was lucky to see the Stones 3 times in the 70s, last was Midnight Rambler, Sympathy for the Devil...smaller venues, Toronto. 3rd row center $7 ticket! ( Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronto) Unforgettable!

I've heard that white tips are more agressive than the ones you mentioned, so with them there's a high chance of an atack...that's why some people say that the white tips are the most dangerous.
@ParleLeVu
@ParleLeVu 2 жыл бұрын
The white tip is far more aggressive than either of those. The great white is dangerous because of its superiority, the Tiger is dangerous because of its opportunism, the bull shark because of its aggression and the oceanic white tip because of all of the above.

super inquisitive like these but you will never see one swimming so slowly as these, I mostly free dive in open ocean so a lot of interaction is at the surface... also we dive 2 or 3 people at a time, it looks in the video there’s lot of divers in the water and I assume they are there to see the sharks so it my be a weird deal and not natural behavior with constant feeding
