Kicking off the lectures with how the lines go at club level is a great format and is really instructive. Seeing a variation on 4 wins in a row from strong club players is arguably more instructive to a club player even than watching how the gms are playing it.

So often openings presented by a GM heavily focus on lines that i rarely or never seen at the club level so this was super useful thank you :)

This Caleb guy achieved his goal - I am confident enought to play this with white and to be honest - it is quite fun. I maybe now watch this video for a fifth time, for review purposes. Quality work!

32:30 - Just a heads up - in Yugoslav names if the name ends of "vic", read it as "vich". That's how it goes. like Dragoljub Veljimirovic, nicknamed the Yugoslav Tal.

54:45 My friend Stockfish told me that white is still fine after 11. Qd2 Qxa1, because the queen on a1 has no squares and will eventually be picked up in exchange for another rook.

I'm having some luck early on with these ideas, but nobody plays the best lines that you examined. Everything tends to go off the plan quickly, so there's lots of improvising

Instead of black playing D4 what if black plays C4? What does that line look like?

White may not have been using an engine (at the end) since you said the engines were not finding a4. Presumably most cheaters don't run their engines for long periods on each move, since a few seconds on a fast phone woujld likely be sufficient for a win.

I wouldn’t be so dismissive of 4…d5 with 6…-00 lines. GM Naiditsch in his Chessable Nikki course for Black demonstrates that pushing e4 is far from guaranteed against correct play, and if White does it, he may well end up giving up e4 pawn.

I used to be so fearful of this. Common sense play always leads to worse positions for black. Gotta know your theory. Not 15 moves deep or anyhing but it really helps to know c5.

Black is equal or better in most of the d5 lines. Just helps if you play good moves in the opening d4 Nf6 c4 e6 Nc3 Bb4 f3 d5! a3 Bxc3 bxc3 c5 exd5 Nxd5 dxc5 Qa5 is the mainline and I would take black.

@@stopwritingthatreplyjohnat6638 Oh I meant knowing to play c5 after playing d5. I play the line you give except instead of qa5 I play f5.
