Nice that he enjoyed his time on the Tornado F3, some pilots didn't after flying F-18s or F-16s. Once the bugs were worked out and the Link-16 was added it became a capable plane, so it ought to have been fun to fly. I do feel for the pilots who had to fly the F2 though, that was delivered in a lamentable state, some without any radar and some even with radar warning receivers and IFF that didn't work.

Always new stuff to learn! It didn't occur to me that scripted DACT or BFM would be less realistic and helpful than randomly bouncing people or just mixing it up like he did with the Dutch. But that makes a lot of sense as a big part of any combat is surprise. Great interview!

Lying about equipment capabilities to Singapore, an ally…? Someone that’s purchased the kit off you. That doesn’t sound good

Yep, not sure that was good to put out. However, you never know they could have had info about plans to sell the equipment to our adversaries.

@@MarkJones-sk6vk I very much doubt the Singaporeans would do that given how much kit they buy from the US Inc advanced aircraft like F-15SG, training in the US & offering port services and logistics to US forces. And they aren’t dumb…surely they’d soon work out that the kit wasn’t functioning; maybe there is another less messy & negative explanation

It was the Bahrain Air Force. Not the Singapore Air Force. And the background reason is that there are capabilities that are not exported. Doesn’t mean it doesn’t work, but it will not work against our systems. That’s Defense Sales 101. Every country who makes defense products has an export version.
