I met his dad in 2008 at Central Boxing Gym in Phoenix...lovely guy, no wonder his son gets immediately emotional trying to make him proud. Jose Snr gave me a little tour of the gym as I was a brit over there doing a bit of coaching in another part of the city

Though I do agree if Bivol gave Canelo problems Benavidez has all the tools to do the same, though I don’t know that he was at his best against Bivol. Canelo has earned his place and Benavidez has a great attitude of beat everyone in front of him. He doesn’t need a Canelo to validate him, but that is exactly what makes the fight good.

Let's be real only light heavyweights and up can give him real problems. He has too much natural power for this division. You can see that his frame can fill out more and easily move up to light heavyweight or even heavyweight to be honest.

I have been a fan of DB since B4 the hype. I've seen him as a killa in the ring, a punishing, spiteful puncher, happy to inflict pain on his opponent. A very clever finisher. I am what you can call a Benevidez fan. I am NOT a Canelo fan, for a myriad of reasons! However, over 12 Championship rounds, David gets stopped by an 80% Canelo. Canelo is weakest when he can't employ his power effectively, and David is ALWAYS there to be hit. Andrade not only fought a BIZARRE fight, (going blow for blow against a punching monster), he's been more active with his mouth than with his boxing. Canelo even if you question his opposition has been active, and active against a better level than Andrade & anyone Andrade has fought. The same can be said of Benevidez to Andrade. Very decent young met average, relatively inactive old and the result for many was predictable. They caught Boo Boo at the right time, and Eddie Hearn is to blame. Canelo will go to Al Haymon and beg for Jaime, (overrated shit), Munguia 1st & Benevidez 2nd! Biggest money in boxing!!

I’m from Phoenix and die hard boxing fan. He’s a breathe of fresh air for this sport, worked hard and grinded to where he’s at. BooBoo was a JMW and MW so he won’t get a fair shake on this victory. Despite all his great talent I think he loses decision to Canelo, 26yr old legend in the making .. I hope he gets the chance and proves the world wrong. No denying the undisputed title shot now!
