It really frustrates me when trainers and promoters throw fighters too soon in with top level boxers. I believe there are levels you have to go through before you fight the pound for pound best in the world. The same way you wouldn't go from kindergarten to taken a university exam. Boots needs to fight a Keith Thurman or a former world champion that's at the top of his game first before you even think about fighting Crawford. Even though Bud is supposed to be on the way out as far as age is concerned, he put on the best performance of his life in his last fight, fighting against another top PFP fighter in Spence. Bud is not only an all-time great, but he gets even sharper when the competition is stronger. I don't see Boots beating Bud unless maybe the fight doesn't happen for a few years and Bud is 40ish and on the decline. That being said, I think some people underestimate Boots the same way they did Bud. Both of them chased the top dogs and they ran from them. They're forced to just fight the people who eventually agree, who can end up being lesser competition, and then they get criticized for not fighting the top dogs. In Bud's case, even when he fought guys who were considered top guys, they tried to rewrite history afterwards like they weren't. When Bud made Spence look like an amateur that changed for most of the doubters though, so Boots needs to have his own version of that fight to make people believers. Bud might be biting off more than he can chew right now though in my personal opinion but that's only because of how great Bud is, and not a knock on Boots. Pretty much anyone else other than Bud I can see Boots winning against right now.
