I have made this comment on other channels before ,cut the side out of the bladders, put in the cut out side of the container. It plugs the hole and you can fill the container. As far as the robins go ,birds are great people, you are doing the right thing

I feel your pain Joe. I built an equipment shed for my tractor and implements, and I didn’t even have any of it in the building yet, and I had 2 mourning dove nests, one in each front corner, and a robins nest up in the middle of the building lol. The robin will fly out when I go in the building, but the mourning doves just sit and kee a watchful eye on me. Stay safe and have a great day…

Good Morning Joe: During nesting season, I really stay on top of nest building and remove nests before they put eggs in them. My property borders of thousands of acres of National Forest that is open for the birds- the house, shop, and woodyard is closed for nesting. Many birds return to the same spot each year, so you will need to be on top of it next spring.

Employee of the Month again! Great opportunity to learn that some flexibility is needed in your set up. That cleaner could go down during a peak production time and the ability to move a trailer under that conveyor will be handy. I hope you are keeping a journal of the set up mods because that would be a good video one day. Still waiting for the drone tour of the new woodyard! Reno

I agree that Joe is a great person. There are plastic nettings that work just as well a chicken wire and easier to conform to the space needing to be covered. Slipping the landlord a couple of bucks might get that cleaner moved if your equipment isn’t big enough… you don’t need to lift it… put a bit of those IBC bladders under each corner and slide it. Just brace the legs so you don’t fold them. It can be done, carefully. Then you can use your trailer like planned.

Nice to see you back in action again, and laughed at the watching and ducking you have to do with momma robin around. Heh heh. Elaine from Canada here, glad you figured a way to work around the nest. I shouldn’t be surprised though because as usual, you encountered a problem situation and found your own solution, well done Joe. Is the cleaner mobile? Can you hook up and move it out of the way without disturbing the actual nest? As always, the camera person did another great job on another great video. Congrats to you both, cheers.

Have tried those big bags? Almost every firewood producer here in Finland uses them. They are 1.5 cubic meters (about 0.4 cords or so), and you can easily move them a tractor if you put a pallet under. They also have a flap on them, so they keep the wood protected from rain. Im gonna be taking delivery of my Pilkemaster mobile processor in few weeks, going to start my own firewood business.

We use baskets for our off cuts as we process. Full bin no opening like yours, I fork them over to location. Then put forks under baskets flip on side , then put forks through the holes and lift it upside down, works slick with some practice. We have even tipped onto layed out pallets then can stack then easily, we’re trying to move the wood less by hand , but stacking is worth it for premium residential wood. Hopefully baby robins move soon and your back to full bore production.

Hi Joe - it’s Big Rodders in Ireland. I believe the cleaner is on loan to you but I question how useful it is for your operation since you handle the logs after cleaning and therefore customers won’t get debris anyway. I can see how it would add value if logs went straight into totes or mesh bags and wouldn’t be handled again before sale.

Hey Joe. I was listening to the Podcast today ( I know I am a few days late but I wait till I am driving north each week to listen). But notwithstanding Dan's faux-pas re: squaring his frame before attempting to attach the steel sheets, why would you not buy it or something similar, and find a contractor that will build it for u? It looks like a possibly good solution to provide you a much needed shelter in a big way. Enquiring minds want to know. :))

Hey Joe. How bout New York trying to ban wood fired pizza ovens . True story. Craig. Hollidaysburg
@ohiowoodburner
@ohiowoodburner 11 ай бұрын
I did some quick research Craig. NY is NOT trying to ban wood fired pizza ovens. New York "CITY" is proposing upgrades to existing ovens installed prior to 2016 that don't conform to current air quality standards. These stoves would require an installed device that reduces particulate matter. NYC is seeking community input from those affected. Seems reasonable to me. Local rule and States' Rights. Since I don't live in NYC I have zero concern for my area in NE Ohio. If I lived in NYC I would prob be more sensitive to air quality as I prefer the air I breath to be clean. We covered something very similar to this in our podcast The Wood Hounds! I think the title is "Don't Worry, Be Happy." It was mostly about the Puget Sound etc.

That was such a "petty" thing to complain about, and be so negative with that cheap shot. No one is perfect, but Joe is very talented, funny and creative. He has purchased most of his equipment, and makes lots of full cords of firewood. He is ambitious. Please "take your leave with grace". I've decided to not tell you "how much we are going to miss you"! Oh "what the hell...I changed my mind...I really am going to tell you how much we are going to miss you: ---"we are going to miss you, like we miss a stone in our shoe"! I love animals! I love being happy! A nice big Momma cat will solve your bird issues. They are natural bird predators, and a robin smart in self preservation will choose a nice, safe, inexpensive tree deep in the woods over the expensive "tree" they chose in your yard now. (Or Darwin's species strengthening theory comes into play here also.) The cat will be there all night and day, and will stay out of the way when machines begin running! The bird is happy, the cat is happy, you are happy, and so is the banker who gave you the money for your hard working expensive wood machine! Based on info in that book, how long has full access been removed from your operation? Two months? OUCH!! And they WILL return for a new batch next year with such excellent protection! You better be prepared for another bird home session every year because they will bring this years baby birds to add three more nests in your yard next year! Stop cutting wood and become a safe haven for birds! What a great guy! OR another solution we found was www.hotfoot.com/. No cats necessary, and the birds get to live. Problem solved!
