So to explain blazblue a little bit. Every character has a “drive” which is dedicated to the D button. Every characters drive is unique and has some unique effect, for instance with Susanoo (lovingly called “Susan” and some times “sus”) his drive attacks unlock his special moves. You do normal attacks to change which ability is highlighted above your super meter and then press D to unlock or upgrade that ability. If you want to know a characters playstyle, looking up what their drive does is a good way to get a sense of that

BTW the reason Terumi had so many supers is because it's his gimmick. His D buttons generate Heat (aka Tension/Super Meter) like crazy, but he's reliant on spamming supers to get anything done. Really weak competitively but stupid fun and pretty easy.

Huge Blazblue fan, always nice to see more content creators playing it. The game is still alive I'd say and it has rollback netcode so there's less connection issues. I would suggest not using the ranked mode that often because it's a bit more dead than the player rooms. There's almost ALWAYS player made rooms open for people. Also I would suggest doing the character specific tutorials to learn what a character's drive and moveset actually does. Honestly, just have fun! The music, art, and characters in this game are amazing and worth getting into. Playing with friends especially makes it better. It also has a story mode with lore more complex than even Guilty Gear's if you're into that (in which case start at Calamity Trigger which is the first game in the series, or just watch a playthrough).

Hell yeah, this one was the first fighting game that made me want to learn. The character tutorials are kind of decent for explaining what their Drive and specials are for. I still haven't found a game where characters are as unique as they can be in BlazBlue, considering the Drive system. My one issue with it is not having an active ranked queue, so it's kind of annoying to get matches through Discord, but it's usually worth the hassle.

Yo I love to see some BBCF on my youtube page, this was the first FG I fell in love with a few years ago when I was starting out! This game is so much more free than Guilty Gear games in the ways you're able to string normals together and structure combos. Some people might find it overwhelming but it satiates my smol ADHD brain lol Also Susano'o is a fan favorite, not surprised he was your first choice. He's one of the easiest characters in the game alongside Mai and Hibiki so good choice for a first character :)

Lol and here I am thinking Blazblue looks new. I'm from the GGXX era so I appreciate a good 2D sprite game. Btw Susanoo is braindead char.

Yeah, this isn't the kind of game where you can really just click past the tutorial.

BBCF is such a cool game. Its just that the only people that play that game these days are people with 5000+ games of experience. Its hard to learn.... that being said, character variety and character design is TOP NOTCH in this game. Everyone feels unique. I personally love Rachel Alucard because of how she acts with the wind.... but she's also really hard mechanically.
