They are but one means of sharing the results of my research into historical combat with sword & shield with everybody who sees value in my work. Any video reflects my knowledge at the time of making. Because I am constantly learning, older videos might be out-dated, and I will eventually un-list them. So you are welcome to leave a comment if you feel you have something substantial to contribute on topic. I very much appreciate being pointed to relevant historical sources. I am not interested in hear-say and unreflected opinions. If a relevant question of yours has been left unanswered, then I might have missed it or the subject was already addressed elsewhere. I only check comments occasionally, so have some patience, please. Personally, I feel that constructive discussion on martial arts only exists in the analogue world, in a salle or a dojo. Please consider that your own valuable personal martial or military experience is inevitably reduced to mere assertions in a comment section. That is the nature of online media. There is zero competence control. This why I tend to shy away from such discussion. I find they are prone to misunderstanding, and generally a waste of time. Time that is better spent with actual research, practice and hands-on discussion. I am always open for the latter, and anyone with a serious interest is welcome to get in touch via private channels. Bad manners, boasting and babbling are a pest of the digital age. They have no place here.

As a left-handed fencer, really excited for this video. I've found that lateral movement and position become even more important when fencing right handers vs left handers. fencing a right handed person im constantly circling where you can be more lateral when mirrored

It's rather nice to hear this phrase as a martial art. 40 years ago it was called Sword and Board in my area. Being left handed definitely had an advantage as even the professionals of my time rarely fought someone who was left handed. Then I went from there to learning how to use a Naginata (because I got my ass beat by some 4'11" Japanese woman). Very Rare to learn that skill set in the 80's From there it was Krav Maga and fire arms in a professional manner. The skill set that I see here is wonderful and it brings a smile to this old man's eyes. Your site are one of the best I've seen on KZfaq. Thank you and your comrades on sharing yours skills and wonderful moves, because people forget that this form of fighting is not all brute force but you need the finesse and swiftness as well. what you shown here makes sense and I'm very glad you showed this video. However you failed to mention that when facing opponent of opposite stands one should position one's lead leg outside of opponents lead leg. I know almost nothing about sword fighting (although i really like swords) but in an unarmed combat agains opponent in opposite stands that is how you do it.

Hallo, Trainiert ihr eigentlich auch mit Speer und schild? wenn ja würde ich mich sehr über ein Video darüber indem gezeigt wird wie sich die Prinzipien (klinge>fläche, hebelverhältnisse und das "oben drauf sein") deiner Meinung nach sinnvoll auf den kampf mit Speer und schild übertragen lassen. oder ob du hier eine andere Herangehensweise hast. ich bin sehr gespannt ob und wie du das machst.
