It's not a hoax , sadly this shows how ill.equipped the healthcare system is. For example in regular times in LA County there's 1 ICU bed per 10K people. That's absurd. And I'm sorry but waiting 9hrs in the ER was average in LA pre pandemic. So that's not anything new either. They are under staffed because long before this pandemic they started replacing RN's with CNA because they didn't want to pay for RNs. There is an entire fully functional hospital that closed ST. Vincents (10min from DTLA)4 months before the Pandemic hit that hasn't been reopened. Not to mention the make shift hospital they turned the LA convention center into that has sat empty the entire year still now empty then there's the Navy hospital ship that left San Pedro port because it too sat empty.

As much as I commend all the healthcare workers. It's what they signed up for, it's what they are trained to do. They knew the job was hard when they took it . It's what they are paid to do. I don't think they are saints just because of the profession they choose to do. Infact I've rarely ever encountered a nice medical professional. Your a number to them and they hardly give you the time of day.

With the first surge, I left within 3 months of getting the job (telemetry/med surg CNA). I was exhausted, I’d cry on my way to and from work, I was drained both emotionally and physically. I can’t imagine what the nurses who I worked along side with those 3 months (who decided to stay) were feeling by the second wave, with subpar working conditions, lack of PPE, short staffing..it was an absolute nightmare.

A lot of people have trauma from this. Many people in my family have had COVID. My parents (in their 60s) are scared to go to the doctors. My grandmother hasn't left her home since June. It's a lot... of course, Frontline workers have it much worse. They are doing good work.

It’s true I’m just a EVS attendant ( housekeeper ) in the emergency rooms and covid units. I clean all the rooms with Covies in it. Im seen multiple people die everyday , code blues , people been hooked to Ventilators . It’s like a war zone. I’m starting to see the effects on my psyche ( ptsd ) I come home a lot feeling like I can’t breath and thinking I caught covid again. Watching multiple people die everyday will mess with your mind sure. Everyday I’m stressed out want to quit but I feel it’s my way of making things right with god . I want to help

They're called medical students, residents, fellows, some attending...nurses, clinical staff, respiratory therapists, home nursing agents, occupational therapists, CNAs, nursing assistants, etc. Also "people like that" include janitors, cafeteria workers, those who deliver trays of food to hospital rooms, xray tecs. I could go on and on here...my list is the tip of the iceberg! Think before commenting.

I'm one of the people privileged enough to stay at home (I'm also immunocompromised) and I'm definitely taking precautions around Covid 19 because I don't want to die or be responsible for anyone's death because I was ignorant.

Exactly my sister's household caught covid including my 90 year old grandma and they were all fine but I feel that not everyone gets lucky and I have started wearing 2 masks when I go out to be extra safe.
