"Don't mess with bears. Just don't." If you take away one thing from this video, that's it. I knew the bears were tough, but by virtue of that reasoning I usually avoid them as much as I possibly can, so while filming this I had several huge "YIKES" moments because I'd never really realized just HOW impossibly, terrifyingly strong they are. On Accurate, a boar grizzly's charge attack can do enough damage to take away around 95% of your health. Don't. Mess. With. Bears. And don't mess with big wolf packs either ahahaha 😅 This was a ton of fun to film, and I I hope it comes in handy for you guys! There's a lot more to fighting than what you see on the surface, and knowing the details can really help you handle yourself well in fights! Here's a huge thank you to the WolfQuest team for inviting me back for another collab, too-- I had a blast taking an in-depth look at the fighting system. Pick your battles carefully, folks-- and don't tick off the bears!

quick tip, if you have to fight a cougar, never go for the throat. the sides and rear of a cougar is a lot better, as the cougar has to take time to spin around to attack you back, giving you time to run away. also, i noticed that biting a cougar's throat does less dmg, but that might be a coincidence. still easier to either intimidate it or just attack it from the back.

If you’re on accurate difficulty and find yourself in a 2 vs 2 or 2 vs 3 fight with a wolf pack, play defensively. Don’t act out at them. You’ll need your stamina, and it’s very limited on accurate difficulty. If you lash out, you’ll lose your stamina, so when another wolf grabs you you won’t be able to break free. Instead, sit still in the middle of them. Once one swoops in, reach around its head for a bite. If you’re dragged off, break free and walk around calmly. Don’t trot or gallop. By saving your stamina and planning out your moves, you should be able to survive 👌

I have a pretty usefull tactic when fighting stranger wolves while they're running away. If you're fighting with stranger wolves and they decide to flee, but you still feel like you want to attack them to make sure they're not coming back, it can be a bit hard to bite them again because they have the same speed as you. What you can do is NOT running directly after them or behind, but slowing down and then sprint from the side instead. This will slow the stranger wolf down because you're not directly behind them, and you have a chance to bite it from the side. And you just repeat this process until the stranger wolf is dead. I know you mostly don't want attack a wolf that's already fleeing, but if you want to then this will help you hopefully. It works really well for me.

Yess thank you. Just found out sometimes if you fight rival wolves and go to your pups to feed them (if u have any) there’s a chance they will follow you to your den and launch an attack on your pups! So I always try to kill them if I can but I could never catch them lol

Bears, Can be scared off especially if you circle them while running & growling. If you do this to a Mother and Cub they will most likely flee rather than Boar grizzly’s. I love wolfquest and will continue to play!
@shiloh9570
@shiloh9570 4 жыл бұрын
My tactics: Bear first. Fighting for a carcass, the best way is to have your mate or you bite the rump. It is better, as it takes longer for the bear to hit you. If the bear has a cub, let your mate bite the bear and you can go after the cub. If you kill the cub, the mother will most likely run off. A boar grizzly has a different way, though. Have you or your mate go for the front. Once they are hit off or run out of energy, grab the rump of the bear. The boar will most likely turn to you, letting your mate attack. Watch your health meter. This doesn’t always work, but is best for attacking. Cougar time! As the same as the bear, get at the rump so it takes them longer to turn. If you are on low and need food, it’s best to back off, but if you are feeling risky, here is a good way. Let your mate bite again like the bear, then circle the cougar. Once your mate let’s go, or falls off, you go in for the rump. Coyote time. Let yourself target one coyote. The one with low health is best, so test each coyote. Continue nipping away at their health. If another coyote attacks you, go for them next to show you don’t play around. This will most likely scare them off, but you can take the risk is killing one. Be sure to watch your health! Fox time. This one is short. A good bite to the neck should get a fox running. If you feel risky again, go after them to kill em. Stranger wolves/packs. Once again like the coyotes, pick one wolf that is probably on low health or half health. Continue to bite them. If the other wolf bites you, your mate will most likely help you, so keep going after the weaker one. It’s best to kill the wolf, as it gets their territory down more and you don’t need to worry as much of sleeping there. That’s all I have. (Edit) please remember to watch your health. NEVER attack on low health. A fight for a carcass or territory on low health is never good.

If I am fighting against two wolves, I will usually start off by focusing on just one of them. I keep doing this until the second one starts circling the first one and I (it’s looking for an opportunity to attack). Then I immediately go after the second one before it can attack me. I keep doing this back and forth until I chase them away or kill one (or both if the other doesn’t run away). I hope this makes sense and that I might have helped you!

I learned a lot from this video! I usually just don't mess with bears at all unless they're attacking my pups, and I can brave against a cougar in the same situation but I'd rather leave them alone rather than try to fight. Wolves are different. I don't wander into stranger territories because I make sure my territory is large enough so my pack and I won't go hungry, so I have no need to wander, but that also means that most of my wolf encounters are in my territory and so I'm quite aggressive. If I see a wolf in my territory, I don't care if it's a stranger or a lone wolf or if it has its pack with it - I WILL attack and I won't stop until either I'm not going to catch one or I kill at least one. I'm pretty sure killing doesn't have an impact on the game - I've seen a wolf I killed come back later on, same pelt and name and everything - but I still like to believe it sends a message to the other stranger wolves, and I feel good about defending my pack so successfully and being such a strong wolf (I'm probably not because I focus on stamina and speed so I have an edge when I'm hunting, so my strength and health are lowered) but it helps! Also, I've noticed that if I fight another pack for a hex of turf and win, then that hex is usually slower to degenerate and I generally won't see a rival in that hex again. And I don't usually, as a rule, care about intimidating enemies. I almost always play on Easy so health regenerates after a single sleep so all I've gotta do is fill up on food, get back to the den and sleep and I'm ready to go again, so I don't have to waste time with intimidation tactics. Why waste time and energy when you can just run in and bite into the nearest foe? I do the same thing when I'm hunting. I don't bother with stalking or cutting the herd to pick the sick ones - I'm rubbish at telling which ones are the best targets - and I'm usually strong enough health-wise to go paw-to-hoof against a bull elk and survive so I just run in, grab the nearest prey item and bring it down quickly. Works just about every time, but I still won't tangle with a bull moose and the only time I'll go near a cow moose is if I want her calf. But once summer hits and the prey calves are born, I try to hunt those mostly because they're easier, my pups need feeding more than my mate and I do, and one calf is usually enough to top off my own stomach or my mate's if only one of us needs feeding. If both of us need to eat, I'll go after the adults.

So long as you have a mate that is decently bold, you should be able to handle most threats (excluding more than 2 stranger wolfs, very difficult to defeat a large pack). I find that good teamwork with your mate can largely change the tides of a battle. My main strategy against a a smaller pack of wolves is to wait for my mate to occupy one target while I go after another. And, any time I see my mate being attacked I go in to pull off the other wolf before they have the chance to do serious damage. If your mate is bold enough they will typically return the gesture. I use a similar strategy for fighting bears. Wait for my mate to attack, once the bear is occupied, I get closer. I wait for the moment that my mate’s grab bite gets thrown off to attack the bear, this way, the bear won’t be able to attack my mate and they can usually either get away or attack again safely.

Yah know, I was thinking it'd be pretty cool to be able to form batchelor(ette) wolf groups, or maybe to join the existing ones. You would then have a miniature pack for safety whilst you quest around for a mate, and would split up once you and your new buds have found another bachelor(ette) group. It just seems weird to me that all these other bachelor(ette), pack-less wolves have unified into duos or trios, but you as the player seemed to think it was better to go alone despite the danger. Loving the game regardless! Excited to see more~

My favorite thing to do is fight wolf packs. I usually walk into Wapiti pack territory and sleep, in order to spawn one-two or more wolves, and then I proceed to either let them run away or kill them. The two wolves I primarily use are Chestnut and Coconut, two complete opposites in color, but they have the same personalities. I have three wolves, with one I barely use. My fighting tactics vary greatly on what personalities I choose for my individual wolves to have. If some are more timid or lazy, I try to avoid stranger wolf territories at all costs. If it's unavoidable or I find myself lost, I will have them run at the first sight of a stranger, even if it's my wolf and their mate against a lone stranger. However, if some of my characters are more bold and daring, my tactic is simple: bite first, ask questions later. It usually provides me with the advantage of getting the first bite even though it *does* have some downsides.

Tip for stranger wolves- NEVER. STOP. MOVING. A moving target is much harder to keep up with and hit, so gallop around constantly. Wolves, after you bite them, will back up and reassess their odds. If they charge back at you to fight, dodge their charge to the side and catch their attack in your jaws! With more than one wolf, back up repeatedly. Make them drop their guard. During a victory howl, attack! You can also jump down slopes when running to get a HUGE boost ahead. Typically, the bolder wolf will be separated from the others after that. Attack and kill one at a time- and dodge everyone else’s. Trying to kill all at once is futile.

My Fighting Tactic (with mate): *This does not always work and is dependable by your mate's behavior* - Charge and circle the most aggressive wolf, do not attack - Once mate attacks wolf, body guard him/her from the other wolf (if single stranger, help mate attack wolf) - Once the wolf attempts to flee growl and confident tail, while chasing. -Either finish him, or let him go. Again, this method HIGHLY relies on your mate's personality. Also it seems to work better with only 1-2 wolves. If I see three wolves, I flee. :)
@milkywaygalaxygamer8860
@milkywaygalaxygamer8860 4 жыл бұрын
@Erva Naz Kıdık That honestly really depends on your hunting/fighting tactics. :) If you get a bolder mate then it might be harder to avoid fights (that might get you killed). But if your tactic revolves around sudden attacks or attempting to make your opponent flee then a bolder mate would be better.^^

If you want a certain hunting spot (some are just on the edges of pack lands) pee and howl regularly before and after a hunt to claim territory it will weaken the packs claim on that area and there will be less wolves to contend with on a hunt but watch out when starting to claim a patch as howling will draw the wolves in to get u off their land. So stay close to Ur borders so you can loose them if needed. (If you run from an encounter the wolf will howl and their claim will be stronger on that patch)

I've discovered that is much easier to win a fight against stranger wolves if you stand your ground and only attack when the bite button pops up. If they run while you are holding the space bar, stop and stand your ground.

and I think it's less known but- when fighting a lone wolf on your own, to restore energy the best while not being attacked or attacking is running from it in the provoked area in a circle, trying to avoid them but not remove your marker on them. So basically, a large round berth. Then once you've got enough energy, you can trot up to them and bite them. This is especially best when they are tougher or stubborn! If they're stubborn you can actually use this method to kill them if they won't back down

Heres some tip( learned on my own) IF starnger howls howl dont be afriad to go for the thorat When looking for a mate or whenever you can hunt moose calfs always look for trotting on cow mouse it ussaly means they have calf Have like an 18- 15 hex anything is hard bc more pretdors and more means itd harder to keep the hexes Dont go for the first mate you get...Many people make that mistae but if the mate is perfect keep it IF your den is like attack bascily evrtime you play wolfqesst or every game day jusr move dens its safer When your a lone wolf or hunting without your mate always do mule deer or the weakest elk but if you can find weak elk scare them its easier and safer IF your going to travel with your pups or pup dont sleep coteys, bears, BISON, bull elk, elk and much worse could spawn(i have lose 2 pups to it so thats how i know that..) Hope it helps for newer people or anyone

How to avoid fights: - Bite them non stop till their almost dead -when another wolf enters kill the first one - chase the 2nd one - bite their tail Now they’ll leave you alone for a week :D

For bears, you run and charge and growl at them but don’t bite. The cubs bite too so especially don’t bite with sow bears. Also raise your hand if you’ve killed a cougar or bison and raise both if you’ve killed both! ✋✋

Idk why but I have this one wolf who was just born with really good stats.. Because the efficiency of how fast he can drop a stranger wolves stats is amazing. Hes fathered 3 liters and hes a badass wolf to have. The last 2 liters he had, a pair of stranger wolves tried to come up and kill the puppies and I successfully got the pups in the den both times and both times the enemy wolves were the leaders of the blue area pack.. And I slaughtered them (once with mate and then the other time on my own), and I walked away with like 60 or 70% of health I think. And I fought both the wolves once before on my own! But for whatever reason, my wolf dude is like a known wolf killer and alpha wolf killer. He’s killed 4 or 5 alpha wolves of a territory already and hes killed like 7 subordinates. (Sometimes in pairs and sometimes just one on one), but he never walks away with seriously bad health inflicted on him from the fight… And because for both years (2 liters) he killed the alpha wolves of the blue area pack, I now have a little more than 30 hexes for my pack. Cause when the leaders died the hexes were so easy to take XD (This was done on challenging though not accurate), but ive tried killing alpha wolves with a different wolf (still on challenging) and I couldn’t with a different wolf (died on a different wolf and almost died on another). So honestly it’s not easy on challenging.. My 5 year old wolf guy is just badass and his stats really work great for effective killing.. And not to mention hes killed subordinates when hes only had 12% awakeness! Like hes sometimes barely had a stamina bar because hes so tired, but with determination and getting their health low enough I killed them too… Hes got really great speed to make up for less stamina tho so even when tired he can be a good sprinter.. I just love my wolf guy so much and his life has been so awesome to play. (When attacking any wolf I always consistently growl even after biting and before biting and ive noticed this sometimes scares the second wolf from actually getting in the way or attacking me while I lock onto a particular one)

The best way to outfox a pack of coyotes is to constantly spin and turn, attempting to wrongfoot them. Instead of going on the offensive, wait for one to approach and then pounce, doing as much damage as possible while ignoring the incessant nips of its allies. Once you have gripped a coyote, make sure to clamp down and not let go until it wriggles free- your goal is to seriously injure one member, and ward off the rest.

My tatics are more likely not to attack if their fight meter goes up especially if I'm not on an easy level I usually don't pick a fight when I'm outnumbered or it's a cougar or either as always a grizzly bear Also if your confident and your health is all the way up with a moose I wouldn't try to mess with it if I were you they run fast and deal a lot of damage even with your mate but in some situations you might win but don't try to get you or You're mate killed if you have permdeath on They're One of the most dangerous prey in wolfquest Early access. Thank you for reading my overly done comment wolfquest or others out there I appreciate you gave me your time and attention to read this.

Bears aren't as aggressive for me. They will usually run away if there isn't food to guard. However, if there is food involved, and a bear is further off, but taking clear interest in the food, i run at them, and growl which will usually send them running. Though, you said that it's impossible to raise the flee meter when the fight is full, but i've had cases where both meters are full. They usually flee when that happens though. The cougars also like to circle with me for long periods of time not losing interest whatsoever. Yes, i try intimidation before i fight. My strategy is to usually get around to the back to avoid taking too much damage, and to have enough time to dart out of attacking range in time before taking a hit.

I only haveone for this video and that is perks. The perks Territorial Might, Fun Parent, and Elder Authority are great for keeping the territory strong and help with pups while Elder Authority and Youthful Prowess are good for encountering an enemy. With Youthful Prowess, it is easier to scare the enemies and it is likely they will flee. Elder Authority will help with keeping the pups during the den during predator attacks.

Here's a tactic if your fighting with a wolf when its chasing you make sharp turns and u turns to get the wolf off your tail turn around and bite it keep doing that when the wolf has got you use the space bar dont hold it down but instead tap onnit over and over, if your on accurate u recommend running away from wolves as soon as you can it's to risky with out a mate. Hope you enjoyed my tactics xd sorry if it killed u xd also me being a blood thirsty player it's important if I choose a bold mate becuase if I ever got a shy mate in a pack fight I would be dead.

You should add how there’s like blue dots that can take you to a den and if u like it u can claim it as your home but there maybe some packs that already claimed it
@Bonniethebunny
@Bonniethebunny 4 жыл бұрын
This game is meant to be realistic. That isn't realistic. And they have said this many times before: "A wolf's home is its own body." Dens, like in real life, are only meant to conceal, and raise pups. Once they're old enough, they abandon the den until their next litter. I would also assume that they will show the locations of dens on the map, but in the current build, which is only Amethyst Mountain, you cannot have a den. You won't be able to until the next level, Slough Creek, is released, and even then the only reason to have a den is to raise the pups, and after that they will not have a need for it until their next litter. Sorry if this came off as rude, i didn't mean for it to, but these are facts. WolfQuest is based on real life research of wolves over the years.

it's very easy to scare off bears if you quickly bolt behind them while growling and then running away, just to do it again. I dunno if this is a bug but it works great! It's better to do this tactic while the bear is eating a carcass

Also when choosing a mate, i tend be be picky and try to find a wolf that: 1- Has strong howls 2- 4 Stars 3- Pelt color 4- Is actually going to hunt with me and not be a coward Always make sure they have these for they could be VERY Helpful later on in game. When found by 2 or 3 wolves its best to single one out and kill it and let the other too flee, Proved helpful to me. ((

@Erva Naz Kıdık Something that doesn't sound really sad, or Weak, Go for a more Stronger howl like first howl 10 I think it is and 9 or 11 or the secondary howl. Pelt color. Say your a Black wolf, 2 black wolfs tend to have more sicker pups no matter the 4 star diversity, A Gray or white or brown are better combinations and help get better puppers, ALWAYS GO 4 STARS, I tend to be picky with this kinda shit, but Yes it's very helpful to get Diversity, Like a 1 star wolf is saying that it's parents are siblings and thats bAd. And sorry for the long comment lmao

Mobile is going to take awhile. No date yet. We have released the first episode of WolfQuest 3: Anniversary Edition (Amethyst Mountain) for PC/Mac on Steam and itch.io, as Early Access. While in Early Access, we are updating the game frequently with more features, multiplayer, and ultimately the Slough Creek episode with pups. The mobile version will come after the game is completed on PC/Mac platforms. We’ll then resume development of the next episode, Tower Fall (DLC).

Interesting~. Depending on how much aggro we pull from cougars and bears, I'm very tempted to test out and use the coyote method of fighting: rushing in, bite, high-tail it outta there asap > rinse and repeat. But that's only recommendable/do-able if we don't have them up our tails for miles... ;v; EDIT: Either way, I already know I'll have a wolf that only lives to fight bears and cougars. Poor little bugger. XD
