I want to bring attention to this matter. Uri attack happened on September 18, 2016. I listened to her complete speech that was published on March 15, 2015 (World Affair Council Video) . She had suggested surgical strikes. The only thing she did not mention that how surgical strike will happen. Now we know terrorists were involved. Now this plan was cooked up a lot before that. Also, the part where she said, “India should attack Pakistan with the surgical strike is edited and no longer part of this video. I think she has to tell us more about the strike. How did she know? it is not just ideological rift which fires the sentiment, recently one Pakistani friend told that Pakistani army is not just an organisation meant for protecting it, it is also an economic/financial organisation as well, it could own irrigable land, petrol pumps and even factories, it basically set its own budget and leaves the civilian government with just a slice of it. under no circumstances, the commissioned officer class going to loose the economical benefits if Kashmir becomes Pakistan. I haven't read the book, but judging from what she said. it seems she has been researching what Indians think of Pakistan rather than how Pakistanis perceive Pakistan. They keep mentioning Two Nation Theory and Partition. We don't even talk about partition and two nation theory very often because we broke away in 1947, mission accomplished, the end. And they keep saying Pakistani society believes, you do realize its 6th largest nation on the planet and its extremely diverse so people have different opinions. It is almost making me doubt she has ever even been to Pakistan. Anatole Lieven's lectures and book will give you far better understanding of Pakistan and i say this as a Pakistani who knows his country.

Dr. Fair lambasts the questioner fairly on one point that he should have read the UN resolution; however, she selectively interprets it. The commission asked Pakistan to withdraw all tribal forces and irregulars. Pakistan did that and all forces left during 1948. The Indians never demilitarised or lived up to their end of the bargain. Furthermore, the other speakers on the panel actually agree with the young questioner on some of his points and she finds no support from the panel till the end. That should be indication enough about the strength of her arguments for someone who doesn't have a Pakistan basing agenda, unlike a lot of the Indians in the thread below.

First, she has no mannered how to talk with a gentleman whatever he asked is not important, but the important thing is that how she reacts as a writer of the book and, there was a clearly prejudice attitude towards Pakistan (Pakistani student) while answering the questions, which shows that, the book is totally based on fictional stories not more than that. At the same time her colleagues Amiracan government officials who served there services in Pakistan, Afghanistan agreed with the statements or questions of Pakistani student, which proves that, the questions are not fictional and it depicts the reality,the writer actually makes people foolish (especially Indians) through her book.

Kashmir does not seem like of key political importance, but it does get the job done when we have serious issues in Major cities of Punjab, our North Western and especially Baluchistan region (proxy wars)... I won't deny if Pakistani military or non-state actors might have something to do with Kashmir, but same proxy wars are a tool for India (Baluchistan), US (Syria), Russia (Ukraine), Turkey (Syrian Kurd Areas), Yemen (Saudi Arabia), European MNCs (Africa).... well it seems like proxy wars are quite a bigger issue than our 'Islamist Fundamentalism' or 'terrorism'.
