When my family were ex-pats in Sweden, I was in the same year at an international school with the son (Seb Berhalter) of the former manager of Hammarby (Gregg Berhalter) in 2013. I was 12 at the time and did some digging and didn't realise that Gregg now manages the USMNT and Seb plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps. Video brought back some memories so cheers!

I am a Djurgården fan from Stockholm and it was nice that u went to see the derby! Just to let u know the biggest Stockholm derby is Djurgården vs AIK. That’s because these teams have played each other a lot more times because Hammarby was in the second division some years ago!

Despite the actual quality of football Sweden does have some real quality ai supporter culture and a long history of being a football nation. Djurgården's tifo was a tribute to their classic arena, Stockholm's stadium which will be 110 years old this year. the text on the banner in front is also a glitch towards hammarby where the text means "some arenas are meant to remain forever" this as stockholm stadium has a cultural value and must not be demolished at the same time as hammarby's "real" home söderstadion demolished a couple of years ago

You're absolutely right about the distinction between Hammarby and Djurgården. Djurgården is supported by the wealthier parts of Stockholm, while the southern areas, which are more left-wing and working-class, support Bajen (Hammarby). Despite this, Bajen is one of the largest clubs outside of Stockholm. The suburbs of Stockholm predominantly support AIK, which arguably has the largest fanbase in the city. However, Djurgården is considered the inner-city Stockholm club, and with AIK being the biggest sthlm club, their derby match is a much bigger event. Hammarby's supporters are more often people who have moved to Stockholm or come from specific parts of the city. AIK and DIF don't care about Hammarby as much as Hammarby wants them to ;)

Hi Lewis, I enjoyed your video, do try and get to an IFK game, one of their local rivals is Gais who seem to be doing very well, last time i saw an IFK game the home supporters were all rattling their keys near the end of the game, i wasn't sure why they did that but always a decent game from the Goteborg teams, if you don't mind me asking how much was your ticket to the ground and did you pre-book before you went?

And I would recomend going to a AIK vs Djurgården, when I was there it was to much bengels that you couldnt see from the top stands with all the smoked so I missed like the half of the game but AIK end up winnig. And did you know that kulisevski wore at that game to watch his friend asoro!

Djurgården-AIK is the biggest derby. These clubs have been city rivals since the beginning (1891). Both have 12 league titles. Hammarby is more of a local team for a certain area of Stockholm and have not had much success. They have passionate fans though.

Also DIF and Bajen share stadium so I believe that those with season tickets can still sit at their regular seats (ofc the "home team" for the match has more seats for their fans but they will still share the longsides. Coming from an AIK fan who hates them both :)
