The Figma team has outdone themselves once again. And that is the reason why designers prefer figma over any other tool.

Just tried this within my agency and apparently for the voting widget, only people with 'Edit' access to the Figma team can use it :/ so it destroyed the point of me trying to use it to gain feedback on design variants :(

The idea of widgets is great BUT basically they are not a no-code, or a low-code, solution and are created by external parties using JS, TS and JSX. If this concept was an ENHANCEMENT of Figma's Atomic Design philosophy, instead of being an externally created self-contained "application" that has nothing to with the designs we all create, it could be even more exciting. Especially if "widgetised" components were then better positioned to be incorporated into advanced visual conditional logic pathways we could have a dramatic jump in Figma's prototyping capability. As it stands, Widgets are really just another form of Plugin that don't really have much of an impact on our capability to implement advanced designs and prototypes. I'm currently trying to create a many-to-many UI interaction (to filter a set of Card UI components using multiple Tab buttons that each activates a menu presenting multiple Tags - though only one Tag within each menu can be selected at a time like a Radio button) and the manual process renders it unbelievably arduous or even impossible to model in Figma. If the user could select multiple Tags per menu we could forgetabout trying to model it in Figma). Widgets are nice. They are just "nice" and feel like a bit of a GIMMICK right now with the state of Figma's core prototyping capability. Turning an advanced component into a powerful widget that could be composable in our own designs and in conditional logic pathways would have been fully awesome.
