At around 10:00 when the stalled out yellow car wrecked you, you can clearly see a wide open path before you jump the ramp. The yellow car is stalled out...not moving...and instead of jumping off the middle or right of the ramp, you jump off the left side and ran right into the stalled car. “Wreckfest, why do you do this to me?!” You did it to yourself Ed. You do it to yourself A LOT.

Those other cars aren't necessarily surviving the race, the leaderboard arbitrarily decides their positions based on what position they are in when you are wrecked. If you blow up on the starting line, then ALL the other cars "survive" the race.
