Saw the thumbnail of "Why don't figure skaters get dizzy?" And could only think, we do. We just eventually get desensitized to it. I had a bad injury last year and combined with the pandemic I ended up off the ice for ~ 1 year and going back has been so difficult. I'm still not used to spinning again, but it'll come back.

those questions are trash af • ‘at what age should i start fs’ • ‘at what age should a skater retire’ • ‘does skater STILL fall on ice’ - what u mean STILL??? • ‘does skater burn calories’ - COMON even walking burns calories LMAO

Totally agree. These questions are basic AF. It's like Olympic Channel doesn't have anyone with actual insightful questions to ask skaters, let alone someone like Starr Andrews, who has no results on the international circuit or at home. If you're going to ask a figure skater questions, make sure it's someone prominent like Lambiel, Plushenko, or even Joannie Rochette, all who've medalled at the Olympics or Worlds. Heck, get Patrick Chan or Evan Lysacek! I have nothing against Andrews, but I was like "Huh? Why is this girl being interviewed??". I understand it's difficult to interview the uber famous ones (i.e. Yuna Kim, Yuzuru Hanyu), but come on, there are figure skaters who've made it to the Grand Prix, Worlds and Olympics who'll be willing to answer these questions.

I believe that backflip is illegal due to much danger it might result unlike any other jumps. Though many are still injured performing their jumps, it’s like the worst they can get is an injury on their hip/foot/back. But if you do a backflip and it one falls in the midst of this trick, they might even die if they fall on their head. Also, I don’t think it backflip cam fit into what they are looking for a jump. It needs no speed, no distance, no particular height and no particular form. Though you may think that it can be just a part of the choreo sequence. It’s still not worth all the danger it might result. Because in a competition, a figure skater needed to practice their program even more than a hundred times. And repeating that trick over and over again, the more chance they can badly fall with that. That is so unlike gala where skaters only do them for fun.

Exactly, I wouldn't know how they would judge the element as it doesn't look good in terms of artistry, doesn't require any particular edge work and as a jump doesn't have the same difficulties the other jumps are judged on. (Of course it's dangerous but a lot of elements in pairs skating can easily result in major head injury as well. I can't watch pairs. It makes me so nervous.)

Dannngggggg i wishhh i could ask thisss but its oke if anyone wanna answer it :>. Where you buy your skates? Online or go to their shop? Or just rent? Can you land all the jump with left legs? Ik all this question are stupid ;v;

Def not rent. I would think most skaters go to the shop, as you have to find the right boot for you. Without a good support and comfort, no jump is possible!

- would definitely recommend going to a shop to get them properly fitted! A lot of skates now can get heat molded which will help with breaking in new skates. You also don’t want to risk getting a boot that’s too stiff or too soft for your experience level. You’re paying hundreds of dollars for them so you gotta make sure they’re perfect for you! -I know a lot of skaters who land on their left leg but it’s because they rotate in the opposite direction. I rotate counter clockwise so my landing is always on my right outside edge. Clockwise rotating skaters will land on their left outside edge. Your exit (“check” position) is always on a back outside edge Both were great questions! Hope this helped
