Hi Marc, I just bought this bike and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. I am trying to figure out how to lock the bike properly to a bike rack will I am at my workplace, since I can't bring it inside. I guess you use the u-lock for the posterior wheel and frame, but what about the front wheel? How do you lock it? It looks like there's no frame hole on the front part of the bike. Thank you for any advice on this
@MarcRCAddict
@MarcRCAddict Жыл бұрын
Hello mate, hopefully your like the bike I still love mine two years in, yeah I use a u-lock rear wheel and rear frame forks then I also sometimes use a smaller u-lock to secure the front wheel and also on the rare occasion i connect the two using a chain or metal rope lock. But it really also depends on where I’m looking the bike too, within the next few days I’ll try and make a little video showing how I lock it and what I use.
@interstate1049
@interstate1049 2 жыл бұрын
Is the unlock mode simply holding throttle on full, pulling brake on full and switching bike back on? Or is there another method?
@MarcRCAddict
@MarcRCAddict 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, how I would unlock the bike is, have the bike turned off, hold the throttle fully back, hold the front and rear break in, (all at the same time) then turn the bike on, the display will flash 8 times then release all controller, then turn the bike off and on again to check it’s saved, bear in mind your battery will drain twice as fast.. if you ever want to put it back to normal power follow this again..

I got mine from decathlon, it was out of the pack, all messed up with pieces on the floor. I got it anyway knowing I would need to modify it to fit. So i did, i chopped it a bit at the bottom so it sat lower (originally designed for larger wheel i think). I had to add a spacer to avoid clashing with the rear break caliper, I used a pair of skateborad wheel bearing spacers for that. Here are some photos of my bike, including the semi-hydraulic break at the front. drive.google.com/file/d/130fq-1aNpyPyB4otfHeU1PDigCEorvGd/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/131hwv_0SFC40PhhXS85kAko8OUjIs_UT/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/13B-9lMPe-U3ZjpI9SwKBVbJnxNCw_OjR/view?usp=sharing, drive.google.com/file/d/13Cl0U1s4aFyudRfelhKhIFkRdA1IjKZc/view?usp=sharing

@MarcRCAddict
@MarcRCAddict 2 жыл бұрын
Hello, thanks for watching, yeah mine has smooth steering, the reason the steering has to be fixed and stop end to end is because or the folding mechanism and before off all the electric cables I have just checked mine and as each end or left and right steering turns is still smooth, what you could be feeling though is either the bearing or it could even be the cables being pulled each side as they are cable tied to each other and the frame etc which could be causing a slight resistance at the end of the turn..

Just dropping by and saying thanks again. With your confirmation, I gathered courage to release the bolt (after 24 h soaking in lubricant) on the stem. How is it like pedalling this bike without using any electrical power? Is it possible to ride comfortably at all, or are the pedals mostly there to assist riding uphill or when low on battery? I had a fiido d1 which I loved, but pedalling was hard as hell (it was single speed). Thanks

Hi mate, really you shouldn’t let it run out of power as it’s bad for the batteries and unless your journey is over 20 miles it definitely will not on a full battery, but peddling with the electric off is a fair bit harder then on a normal bike as you are turning a motor manually, but in low gear 1st or second or 3rd depending on your physical ability will be no issue, I suffer with fibromyalgia so it’s something I tend to never do, but I did test it and I had no trouble in 1st gear..

mine is now 301km old and yesterday i had my first broken spoke on the rear wheel. Strugling to find the exact length but eventually managed to ordered some 130mm long (not st.steel), nothing on fiido webside. I'll do it myself or it would be an expensive job to have done elsewhere. I hope this is not a first of a series of spoke failure that would force me to redo to entire wheel, and if this is the case it would be the expensive price to pay for a cheap non stainless steel bike. The entire transmission is made from the cheapest carbon steel (chain, sproket, and 6 gear casset) and I'm ok changing them later for better ones. If someone had a link for good stainless spokes for the fiido 4DS please let me know.....PS I wish there was a connector for the motor wire near the rear axle......but it doesnt.
@LDem-xj7ex
@LDem-xj7ex 2 жыл бұрын
Just an update about the spoke. Unbelievable, the 130mm long fitted perfectly, and even better, I managed to replace the single broken one without even emptying the tyre, just unscrew the broken rod and reuse the same nipple, all good so far, all spokes tighten and no more noise from the rear wheel. I hope this was a one off, and I'll now avoid my kids carrying eachother over bumpy grass in the park. EDIT. 2nd spoke broken. Again replaced in 3 minutes without dismounting the wheel.......I can't say anymore I would recommend this bike to someone who isn't able able to do bike repair by themselves....... otherwise I still love it. I think will just wait for every spoke to break and will replace them one by one until they are all better ones😂. I also read that this is a natural diferente between crank or hub motors: Hub motors are know for breaking spokes, mainly of they are cheap ones like on this bike. I do believe however, good spokes will hold well since the motor isn't too powerful anyway

You can fit slightly wider tires in the fiido d4s you just have to make sure they fit the wheel rim and also do not rub against the bike forks, I would suggest if you can, take it to a local bike shop and ask their advice on what tires they would recommend for the fiido wheels, they should be able to fit a new spoke too.👍

I'm thinking of getting myself one of these to help get myself out the house more since coming down with long Covid a year ago, which means any kind of actual "exercise" has to be avoided for the time being (as someone with FM, I'm sure you get it). You mentioned that the throttle won't be enough by itself on a steep hill - what kind of gradient would it handle before needing the pedal assist do you think? And, if I do the combination you suggested (use the throttle while pedalling a bit), how much leg effort is required? The hills here aren't *steep* steep, but did get the heart pumping and the legs working back when I could ride them on a normal bike.

Hi vinnie, sorry to hear about you having long Covid but hand in my heart I can say this bike will be great for you, as you know I have FM bit also a heart condition and this bike does wonders for me, on the days I can’t pedal I just use the throttle but yeah those steep hills it will not climb with the throttle alone, 10 -15 degree hills no problem though, but put it this way if you put the bit on power mode 3 and use a low gear like gear too no matter how steep the hill is the bike will get you up that hill with very little leg power at all, one of the hills I have to go up is about 50 degrees for around a mile long, before I had the bike I used to struggle to walk up the hill for without getting seriously out of breath and needing to stop but in the bike I could do it about 4 times and not even be out of breath, it’s like having to pedal on a flat surface but with nearly no resistance, I love this bike a lot it’s really making my life a lot easier and making me more mobile that’s for sure.. but if you want the more exercise then put the bikes power in mode one or two and you will have to put more man power into the movement.. hope this helps, anymore questions just ask and if you do end up getting the bike use my link if you can it really helps me out with creating thee types of videos 👍

All spokes seem to be gauge 13/2.3mm diameter rod, and the nut/nipple key is definetelly size 13 (spoke key). After the second breakage, I decided to replace all 130mm spokes on the chain side, I did one by one without dismouting the wheel, and making sure I did some overall alignement after replaceing a few ofthem ot make sure the wheel was kept true. Just oredered some 135mm to complete the entire rear wheel by doing the disk break side. Lots of work but I still love this little bike. Cheers.

Sadly please all be aware that this bike is illegal in UK and EU. Why? It does not conform to UK and EU pedelec law. It has a twist throttle that can propel the bike without pedal assist. Hence bike has to be registered as a moped that requires insurance and driving licence. However, there is a solution disconnect the throttle, and the motor only assists when pedalling and cuts out when not pedalling . I super glued the throttle, hence non functional , should anybody wish to test. The degree of pedal assist can be changed by the plus and minus display buttons at three levels of pedal assist power. Not a complete cadence solution, but good enough . Acceleration with pedal assist is pretty smooth. Deceleration, the motor cuts out as stated when not pedalling. This applies to DS2 and DS4 that have the same controller. After nearly 2 years of use on my DS2 (has rear suspension which is great) I have changed the battery once, upgraded electrical connections for controller and battery and changed display supplied by Fido. Fiido remote support has been very good and adequate for somebody that is electrical bike maintenance experienced. Fiido were not interested to provide a solution to enable the DS2 and DS4 to conform to UK and EU pedelec law. Be warned the police are now fining heavily those ebikes that do not conform .

Hello, I’m very sorry to here this, it sounds like you have been very unlucky with your bike, I would suggest you contact the manufacturer but also the place you bought the bike from. I hope you manage to get help with the now and compensated.👍

Hello, they state the battery will start degrading after 500 charges, that put me off the bike very slightly before I bought it, but to put this number in perspective, I have had the bike over two years, have travelled well over 1200km and I charge the bike once a week, sometimes twice, so I think I have charged the bike about 200 times in two years, the battery is still great, plus when the Battery does need replacing in a few more years time, you can buy them reasonably cheap, any other questions just ask 👍

Customer services awful and making threats when I return this 'If you insist on returning the bike, please pack the bike in its original packaging to avoid damage in transit, we will inspect the bike for secondary damage upon receipt of the returned bike and we will issue you a refund if the bike is not damaged' I don't insist on returning this bike I only want fair recompense for the damage and the cost to fix it, it is unridable. I was 1st offered £16.90 now I'm being offered £45 a third of what it will cost to fix. Also implying they will not refund if the bike is damaged in transit is frankly disgraceful! There is no way I can re pack this bike the same way, I also have no control over what happens in transit or back at their factory. We all understand things go wrong but it's how they are dealt with that makes a difference. My advise pay for this bike by credit card as at least you'll have some recompense with them. Fido, your customer service needs to stop behaving like gangsters and manage their mistakes honourably and honestly. There is still time to redeem this but it's running out. To add insult to injury this is a replacement for one stolen, not a great way to treat repeat business.

Fiido's pedal assist is the worst I've ever seen! It's not pedal assist actually, it just detects that you are pedaling (after quite some time actually because it's very slow) and it just gives full power!! no matter what assist gear/mode you 're on.. assist gears/modes only define different cut-off speeds for the motor so it stops when you reach that speed.. just awful!
@MarcRCAddict
@MarcRCAddict 3 жыл бұрын
Have you used one? I and many others really like the bike, you have a few types of pedal assist ebike son the market and these lower end bikes have a rotational pedal assist do yes when the pedals get rotated the electric power kicks in and assists you, the amount of power you get from the assist depends on the power setting mode you have selected and the gear the bike is in, the more expensive ebikes have a torque sensor pedal assist, and the motor power assist does not cut off when speed is reached the power assist only cuts off if you stop pedalling or if you release the throttle on the handle bars which also limits the speed and power manually.. yes they are better but are double or even three times the price and a lot of them don’t come with a throttle either.. but thanks for the comment every little helps lol..
@anstelios
@anstelios 3 жыл бұрын
@@MarcRCAddict Oh I have used may ebikes and most of them cheaper than Fiidos (btw i use M1 pro right now). Have you used another ebike other than Fiido? I m not talking about torque sensors, I m talking about power control of the motor according to the assist level you're on , which Fiido just doesn't have. Fiido has "speed mode" control which just gives full power regardless of assist level and stops when you reach the preconfigured speed of every level, which is really dangerous and totally unintuitive! Basic power mode controllers and their displays are really cheap actually and all other ebikes I have used use these controllers and most of them are cheaper than my M1 pro.. I have no idea why Fiido chose to use this awful controllers but I m really frustrated !!

@@anstelios I’m sorry to hear you don’t like your M1, i really like my DS4 it has helped me in many ways, yeah I tried two other ebikes before buying the fiido ds4, I tried the little Assist hybrid front wheel powered folding ebike which is £500, but it was too small and weak in power, and looked girly lol, I also tried the Carrera Vengeance electric mountain bike which was over £1000 but this was too large really, too pricey and I needed a throttle, I much prefer the fiido ds4 in every way so glad I bought it..

Initially i also found this, no power control, just speed control. however, once you know this, and you also learn that after 2 full turns the motors kicks in, now i feel more in control and love to use it. for long straight rides it just does the job perfectly. the bike isnt that powerful to start with so I dont think this could be classified as "dangerous" (maybe for a child, who shouldnt be on it anyway, UK min age is 14). but yes, you wont get a super fine psuh from a £600 bike, will you?
