As winter approaches and you still want to get out on a bike, it's time to consider a fat tire ebike. The new Fiido Titan is a beast of a bike with lots of amenities and a reasonable $1,699 price point.

Amazing ebike. I like this one

Great review of a great product. Unfortunately due to new laws here in the UK this is actually illegal on the road unless you get a number plate, motorcycle licence and insurance. Police in some counties have been confiscating hundreds of ebikes mainly from food delivery riders who have been immediately rendered unemployed. I would strongly recommend reading the latest and ever-changing laws on ebikes before buying one.

That’s too bad, it’s a rock solid bike. Still legal here where I live and hopefully won’t change anytime soon. Thanks for viewing.

Do you reckon as long as one rides safely and not using throttle I'd be okay using this bike in London? Or do you reckon police are checking the Motor Power? (2nd E-Bike)

I wouldn't worry about it. Half the country's ebike riders use 250+ w motors. Once you go 500+ w, 250w starts to feel like a big scam. The law doesn't make any sense, especially if the bike is already locked on 15.5mph. Just ride responsibly and decently and no-one will give you second thought. Also, most of the police don't know the first thing about e-bike laws. I've been riding 1000w e-bikes for 5 years, never had a problem. I was stopped by the police once, and guess what? One of them asked where he can buy a similar bike. He even had a go on my bike. There isn't, in fact, a single case where some was charged for an 'overpowered' e-bike. What the police goes after, often in cities, are scooters, stealth e-bikes, and e-bikes looking like motorbikes, especially if they're spotted ridden by reckless teenagers on pavements or dangerously. Go for it! No one cares!

@@emmano8350 London is one of the worst places in the UK for nabbing you and confiscating the bike and give you penalty points on your car drivers license , be careful if you do get a larger than legal E Bike. 🙂

Thanks for the video, question for you - does it have any delay with pedal assist? I have two ebikes Himiway and Beecool. Beecool has a delay with PSA while Himiway does not.

@palmsolo 8 ай бұрын
Hmm, I am not noticing any delay on the bike. It does have a torque sensor so the assist kicks in with the amount of force that you put into pedaling so it doesn't "take off" as much as a cadence/speed sensor bike that provides assist based on how fast your pedal. I wonder if there your delay is a torque vs cadence sensor situation. I do notice at times going up steep hills that there is a bit of "jerkiness" to the torque sensor, but I am also shifting gears to tackle hills so it seems like there is a bit of "hunting" for the right level of assist on steep hills. It is not consistent so likely a factor in the force I am applying to the pedals. As I mentioned in my written Substack article, not sure I said it in the video, I have noticed a couple of times the throttle will not engage at times for some reason. I have to then stop, turn off the bike, and then move forward. This only occurs occasionally and I now just test the throttle engagement before starting my ride.

Thank you for this review. Have you riden the Velotric NOMAD 1, and if so which one did you like better and why? Thanks!!
@palmsolo

Yes, I tried the Nomad 1 and love that bike. They are both great options and without both right in front of me at the same time it is hard to judge. The Nomad 1 is super responsive with the throttle and the battery propels me forward for more miles than the Fiido Titan. Fiido bikes have great quality build and seem a bit more refined than Velotric bikes. The Fiido Titan has an integrated rack and fenders so is a bit better for me for riding in the rain. Then again, the Nomad 1 is a kick in the pants in the snow.

Hi. You said you tried a cyrusher ranger aswell. Out of the Fiido Titan and ranger which would you recommend for casual riding with kids and so trail runs. Thanks
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 6 ай бұрын
For kids and trail rides I personally prefer the Fiido Titan. The Cyrusher Ranger is a great bike, but it feels much larger and bulkier than the Titan. It doesn't have the rear rack either so not easy to strap a car seat on the back. I am also a big fan of the mag wheels that make so you don't have to worry about spoke adjustments after trail riding. The Cyrusher Ranger seems to be built more for the serious outdoor adventurer who wants to hit things hard with lots of suspension. The Titan works well for gravel riding, but is also a very good cruiser.

Which would you choose between the Fiido Titan or Engwe L20 for daily commute to work? I have some steep hills on my route.
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 3 ай бұрын
For commuting, I like the L20 2.0. It is lighter, more nimble, and propels me better up hills. I think it is because the sheer power provided by Engwe and the lighter weight of the bike. The Titan is nice for the smooth ride with the fat tires, but I find the Engwe goes longer.

Yes, Fiido bikes don’t seem to have the longest range compared to the competition

The bike has a thumb throttle? That is a bummer.
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 7 ай бұрын
I can't really come to a full conclusion yet if a thumb throttle or a twist throttle is better for a fat tire bike like this. A twist throttle gives you a feel like a motorcycle and those types of vehicles have a long history of twist throttles. However, I've also had motorcycles get a bit out of control with a twist throttle in the past and it's a bit quicker to move your thumb away from the throttle than it is to roll your hand back to slow down. I'm leaning towards a preference for thumb throttles.

I used both on several e-bikes. I'd say it's a matter of getting used to whatever throttle mechanism the bike comes with. Two days in, thumb or twist, it just grows on you.

you are lucky , I am barely getting 25 miles from my Titan Battery and that is mostly all peddle assist no Turbo+ use, no wonder Fiido wants you to buy a 3 pack lol , the battery it comes with is only a 14.6 AH ,this heavy needs a minimum of 20 ah or above battery , spose it keeps up battery sales for them 😂
@palmsolo
@palmsolo 5 ай бұрын
The 84-mile advertised battery life is clearly an exaggeration. I have been seeing about 45-50 miles with assist and occasional throttle to get off the stop line.

@@palmsolo I will see if range improves a bit once the battery has been conditioned after a few recharge cycles . meanwhile I have ordered a second battery when I seen how low the range was .

I found people who love e bikes or scooters are mostly male. Are there any women likes to use it?

Some do. But again, men are more inclined to appreciate technology. Who builds tech anyway! Also, e-bikes are heavy, some only a man can lift.
