Get a vintage lightly used Sony. Replace the belt, lube the motor and off you go with Dolby B, reverse, tape equalization, mega bass, AM/FM radio, and fantastic headphones.

MOST of the Sonys I was looking at are very expensive. I dont know how to replace all that stuff - but I would like one of the super slim older Sony's - I know those are very expensive.

@@PiecesofVinyl you are correct. I bought a super slim Sony in mint condition but it needed service. I fixed it and sold it for very good money. I'm using a WM-FX43. It's a bit larger but not that expensive.

Funny. I recently reviewed the Jensen personal cassette player on Amazon stating that I bought it because I have yet to find my Sony Walkman (hopefully in storage) with bass boost, auto reverse etc. that I purchased in the early 90s. So much better. But the Jensen (mine is the Bluetooth version) isn’t bad for the price nor do I plan on switching back to tapes to listen to music. I still have a music cd collection curated from the mid 90s up to the present (though much more slowly and deliberately now). For the FIIO - add an eject button, auto stop, auto reverse, and maybe, but not necessarily, Bluetooth transmitter and backup power system (lithium plus physical batteries) - then it might be worth the price.

Anything decent Sony cassette players that are worth getting are ridiculously expensive, and any fixer-uppers could be equally expensive, especially considering key components aren't made any more.

Man, I lost mine years ago lol, but have a bunch of mixes I made when I was a kid 🤣. Telling my kids how I had to listen to the radio and hit record at the right time to get the whole song, they don'tunderstand. Good memories. As far as tapes today, I did buy Kelly Finnigan's mix tape last year simply because it was Kelly Finnigan and it's still wrapped and unopened. I debated about buying Reverand Barron's tape from Colemine, but I didn't. Shit bro, taking everyone down memory lane. My dad still has his Walkman from when I was a young kid and still listen's to it every night to go to bed. Fun video brotha man, much love to you and the channel. Always great to get a new Rocco video on the channel

I waited two days to get "Bring it home for Jerome" - which was an eagles hype song written about Jerome Brown who died (tragically) that year - 1992! - it was on Q102 - which was the Pop station at the time - I would come home from school and sit there and wait for it!

Glad to see the boy excited about Dad's interests. Father's and sons relationships is so important for our society. Father's need to be in the home with the family raising good young men and women with their spouse. Thanks for the review , love walkmans and cassettes. Cassettes actually can sound almost as good as records with a great cassette deck like a high end pioneer and Nak. The medium is so cool and one of the best mediums ever created. Thanks for being a great Dad.

Glad to see another person getting into cassettes. The sound quality isn't bad, you're just listening to it on a cheap player. Play it on a decent deck and the sound is fine.

Im definitely going down the rabbit hole - Im going to keep it to really obscure things I cant get on vinyl - like compilations or stuff like that. I cant go collecting all my vinyl in cassettes!

Not sure if anyone has ever felt an audio orgasm, but wow. I purchased an old set of Bose TriPort Headphones on Amazon, popped in my Moody Blues (Other Side of Life Cassette) and jacked into my FIIO CP13. OMFG. I never experienced such an amazing distribution of sound from my all-time favorite band on a cassette player. This wouldn’t have been possible without the FIIO and Bose headset. Strike me for whatever you want, but even my high-end phones don’t produce this amazing sound. To much base, etc. … Sometimes old school is still the best.

I have been using these old school cheap headphones and they are fine. But I did try this with my audio technicas and the sound is way better.

I still have my Casio walkman from 98 and it stills work! It also has a microphone feature and some bass adjustments

The only reason I can see to pay $109 for this over the $20 Jensen portable cassette player is the rechargeable battery, but you can buy a lot of batteries for that $89 difference. The Jensen is better in that it has auto-stop and a radio; the FIIO does not. I believe they both have the same guts inside, there's only one manufacturer (Tanashin). I use a portable cassette player to listen to vinyl that I've converted.

I guess. The Jensen seems to have some hit or miss reviews. But it’s on sale for $15 so you can’t go wrong with that!

Get skullcandy crusher evos they have a base slider makes tapes sound incredible and can adjust for different tapes

I cant say I have noticed that - I have used it with my stereo since this video and it actually sounds really great with it - go figure - the crappy "retro" headphones I was using sounded like crap!

Do you mean a refurbished Walkman from Sony from retro? Or one of the WeAreRewind? The Sonys are cool - but expensive. They do have a sick Polaroid I want though!
