I have a couple of ideas, but the brits reading this comment section aren’t going to like it. Needs to be said bluntly. Apparently the premier league is the greatest league on the planet. First the narrative was that it is the most competitive, and now the saying is specifically “the best league in the world” (because Man City have made sure it is no longer competitive). Now, while it is still a debate and very subjective as to which is the best league in the world, there is no doubt that the premier league is the league with the most talent and wealth pumped into it. However, let’s take it further. That talent consists of players, coaches and managers. We can’t ignore this talent is mostly (significantly) foreign. But we don’t like talking about it. The wealth is also foreign and without that wealth, the league is not bringing in the best talent to claim itself as the best league in the world. On top of that, the vast majority of brits (unless it’s the team you support) complain about the foreign wealth and have the audacity to claim the money coming in is inhumane. Why is all of this important? Because nearly everyone in the uk (clearly Southgate as well) believe the English hype and ignore the reasons why English football is superior. It genuinely has very little to do with actual English players. Let me break it down for you: Man United was one of the greatest teams in the world. Man City, Liverpool, chelsea and aresnal are too premier league teams. Therefore, anyone who is English and at least sits on the bench for any of those teams are considered the best players England has to offer. This is also the reason why England do not succeed in international football, it is also the reason why on paper fans mistakenly believe England are favourites (this goes back 30 plus years) for any tournament they enter. England don’t win because English players in England don’t play enough football, and the ones who do play are not very good when compared to the foreign talent in their club team. Which brings me to tomori… and English player who plays first team football in Italy and has gained skills no English defender in the premier league could ever obtain. The guy is a living example about how an English player can get first team football for a competitive league and improve in a team that has talented players in it.

If I have to describe the prototype of the perfect center back I would say he has to be tall but not so much (1.85 - 1.88 is perfect), very strong, fast just like Tomori is, good at the ball and very composed with it just like Gvardiol is and a very important detail, he has to be good at giving short and long passes just like Rafael Marquez used to back in his times at Barca, idk why people like the type of center backs like Van Dijk or Maguire who just performs well with England
