Welcome to La Loma the "capital of lechon" here in Manila. This place is a heaven for all you lechon lovers. Slow roasted pigs over a bed of charcoal. Cripsy, dripping with fat and smokey lechon is a stable in The Philippines. Today I'm taking you to Ryan's Lechon in the heart of La Loma. Here you can of course taste his spectacular lechon but they first started off selling their famous chicharon. There is more than just lechon here in La Loma so today ‪@foodiemommaph‬ and I will take you to the best spots in La Loma to taste some incredible Filipino street food in Manila.

That beef rice looks delicious! The donuts have an interesting allusion to its name, and they all look delicious. I could eat a whole box! I'm not a lover of offal, but their way of roasting is appealing! Thanks a lot for sharing, super great job! 👍😄👏

The national dish of the Philippines is called "pagpag." It's made by refrying chicken bones that have been collected from the trash. Since many people in the Philippines are poor and lack education, a lot of them have to find discarded bones in restaurants, refry them, and eat them. Philippine roast pig (lechon) is the best in the world. It's cooked to perfection and skin is shiny nice golden brown crispy, and tender juicy meat. 😋 Thank Luke for loving and liking the Philippines and it's food and delicacies and perhaps it's culture too!

As a Filipino citizen, i love lechon! Its one of my all time favourite Filipino traditional cuisine. Im glad you love it too! You can live and migrate here in Philippines already because you love mostly all Filipino foods, and our hospitality and warmth. Im hoping youll gonna come back soon and explore the Mindanao region, because you only goes to Luzon & Visayas only. And will follow my suggestion of transferring here in my country. Im sure youll gonna be happy here because Filipino loves you and your travel food vlogs. Thank you for coming over and showing the world how delicious our foods. How i wish i can go eat with you, you makes me crave by watching your content. You're the best food travel vlogger ever! 👍😋🇵🇭

Mojacko Japanese TV Cartoon Series inspired Mojacko Milky Donuts. They have munchkin-sized donuts which means “small” or “bite-size”. Dominic's Bakery simply called it Mojacko to make it more distinctive and catchy.

I dont understand how they can get the skin so crispy without burning and also keep it juicy... I guess because it's roasted whole they can cook it for a really long time without drying out? And they put something on the skin maybe? Anyway amazing stuff
@LukeMartin
@LukeMartin 11 ай бұрын
Yeah they continue to kind of brush it with a mixture including vinegar. Then they poke holes in the skin while it’s roasting to prevent it from bubbling up and burning. Not an easy feat but totally worth it!

It's not that Filipinos don't like spice, it's just that we prefer it as an option, so most of the spice in our cuisine are in our condiments and dipping sauces, such as spicy vinegar, spicy soy sauce, spicy fish sauce, chili garlic sauce, etc.

Luke, you know what? You look like one of our actresses in the Philippines named Sue Ramirez. You are her male counterpart. You're both good-looking. . . I prefer dipping my Lechon skin in vinegar with garlic, onion & a little chili to cut the taste of the fats. And I love dipping my savory dishes in tangy-a little salty-spicy dip or shrimp paste with calamansi juice rather than in a Mang Tomas sweet sauce. Tanggal umay sa sebo. (It means it cuts the oily feel). For me, sweet dip magnifies the fatty taste and oily feel and not healthy too.
