Must see Baumgarthner restoration. He applies varnish before retouching.

Baumgarthner does varnish first to get true colour…all removable if needed!

@@gigiarte1 He always varnishes paintings at the end but not always before retouching because it isn't always necessary. In this case, the colors are already pretty saturated, so they're not gonna change dramatically with varnishing. And with such minor retouching a tiny deviation in color will not be noticeable. As for reversibility: The paint used for retouching isn't oil paint, it can be removed without disturbing the original paint. Plus it's on top of fill-medium that can also be removed
