Dear Jordon, many thanks; you have provided some of the most grounded (and bitter) truths of films financing. Many investors will be so much vary about return of their investments that they may end up changing too much in our planned films and end up spoiling our entire visions and dreams altogether. It is merely theoretical to assume that the investors have believed in our ideas and scripts if we are newcomers and do not have successful track records of earnings from our past films. In fact the only ones not meddling with a film's design are crowd funders and large corporations like KZfaq and Netflix who only want to add content of a particular genre of their choice in their libraries for exclusive releases (Now Disney will soon join this group with their 20th Century Fox acquisition). Further, your description on sponsorships/advertisements matching the film content is a core grounded fact. The challenge is to find the right sponsors matching the core theme of the movie. In fact, the filmmaker also needs to decide if including a sponsor may affect the prospects of success of a film. The ultimate funders are the audiences. They are the ones each filmmaker should care about. Meddling by financers or wrong sponsors can seriously affect this part, which could be dangerous for the future prospects and career of that filmmaker. Great points - my favorites: how the bplan shows investors how the film will make revenue, be open to the advice from experienced investors, pursue soft financing (sponsorship) - too many filmmakers overlook all the ways they can contribute to the bottom line without cash of their own. Well done!

Of course we would love investors/sponsors, but we are taking the step of self funding and building our audience. We are going all in this year with original content and definitely want to have a lot ready by the time the search begins.

I thought the studio funds the film it's releasing. Like for example, Universal Pictures or Columbia Pictures..then I hear it's the Executive Producers who fund a film..I'm really confused now. If anyone could enlighten me.

What are your thoughts on creating a S Corp or LLC for the project, creating a PPM, Business Plan, Financial waterfall, and even think about the Blue Sky laws per state? Raising money without legally protecting yourself can lead to the investor knowing their rights to recall their investment when it's not fully written out. This was a good solid tight video.
